On October 14, 2025, the 1 million kilowatt wind power project of the new energy base in the North Shanxi coal mining subsidence area was simultaneously announced to have started construction at the project sites in Hunyuan County, Xinrong District, and Zuoyun County in Datong City. This not only marks a milestone in the substantial progress of the construction of the Jinbei base, but also injects powerful green momentum into the high-quality development of the region. The 1 million kilowatt wind power generation project that has started construction is a core component of the construction of a large-scale new energy base in the coal mining subsidence area of northern Shanxi. The project is developed and constructed by Jinneng Holdings Jinbei Energy (Shanxi) Co., Ltd., with a total investment scale of approximately 4.09 billion yuan. The project is located in a coal mining area with a long history, aiming to transform the former ecological burden area into a highland for clean energy production through intensive and innovative utilization of land in coal mining subsidence areas, and achieve the coordinated promotion of land resource efficiency and ecological environment governance. It has explored a new path for the transformation and development of similar regions in the country, which can be used as a reference.

After the project is completed and put into operation, it is expected to deliver up to about 2 billion kilowatt hours of clean electricity to the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region annually. The stable supply of this green energy is equivalent to saving 600000 tons of standard coal annually, significantly reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 1.68 million tons and sulfur dioxide emissions by 1.66 million tons, while effectively reducing nitrogen oxide and dust emissions. This not only directly contributes to improving air quality and addressing climate change in North China, but also strengthens Shanxi's supporting position in regional energy cooperation through the practice of "green electricity entering Beijing", demonstrating its responsibility to serve the overall national situation.
