In 2025, the CGN Jixi Lugu DC 100000 kW molten salt tower solar thermal project has made significant progress in Lesheng Township, Da'an City, Jilin Province. As one of the first national integrated demonstration projects for wind, solar, heat, and storage, this project is steadily advancing towards the goal of becoming the first operational solar thermal power station in Northeast China.

This project adopts advanced molten salt tower technology and is equipped with an 8-hour thermal storage system. In a mirror field with a total area of 590000 square meters, 19667 heliostats accurately track the trajectory of the sun and reflect light onto a 233 meter high heat absorbing tower. The total capacity of the underground thermal storage system is 1813.4 megawatt hours, combined with a 40 megawatt molten salt electric heater, which can effectively absorb the surplus electricity generated by wind and photovoltaic power, achieving 24-hour continuous and stable power supply.

The project is contracted by China Electric Power Construction Group Zhongnan Survey and Design Institute Co., Ltd., which gathers high-quality resources in the domestic solar thermal industry. Zhejiang Kesheng Technology Co., Ltd. provides concentrated heat collection systems, Xizi Clean Energy Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd. supplies steam generation systems, and other professional enterprises undertake the supply tasks of key equipment such as molten salt valves and molten salt pumps.

As of now, the project has completed two core projects: comprehensive installation of the heliostat field and precise installation of the generator rotor. In response to the unique climate conditions in Northeast China, the project team has innovatively developed key technologies such as the design of heat absorbing towers suitable for extremely cold weather, and the foundation of molten salt tanks with both waterproof and insulation functions, providing strong support for the stable operation of the project in complex environments.

The construction and implementation of this project will provide important experience for exploring the comprehensive utilization of new energy in China, and have demonstrative significance for promoting the consumption of clean energy and promoting the transformation of energy structure. The project team is making every effort to promote the subsequent installation and commissioning work, striving to achieve the goal of grid connected power generation as soon as possible.
