Recently, China Energy Engineering Corporation successfully won the bid for the main project of the Taicang Port Xiexin 2 × 660000 kW expansion project, leveraging its technological accumulation and comprehensive service advantages in the field of energy and power engineering. The total installed capacity of this project reaches 1.32 million kilowatts, with a total investment of over 2.6 billion yuan. It is not only a key energy supplement project for Jiangsu Power Grid during the 15th Five Year Plan period, but also an important carrier for building a strong power security barrier and promoting green energy transformation in the Yangtze River Delta region.

The project is located at the site of the shut down unit of the first phase of GCL Taidian. It adopts the leading ultra supercritical secondary reheating unit technology in China, which has multiple functions of efficient power generation, stable heating, and deep peak shaving. The designed coal consumption for power supply is low to the industry's advanced level, and the energy utilization efficiency is significantly better than traditional coal-fired power projects. In response to the "dual carbon" goal, the project is synchronously equipped with ultra-low emission environmental protection systems and zero discharge treatment facilities for wastewater. Through full process purification processes such as desulfurization, denitrification, and dust removal, nearly zero emissions of pollutants are achieved. It is expected that the annual power generation after production will be about 7 billion kilowatt hours, which can meet the annual electricity demand of more than 5 million residents. The annual carbon reduction will exceed 3.5 million tons, equivalent to planting nearly 190 million trees every year, achieving a win-win situation of energy supply and ecological protection.
As a key project for upgrading energy infrastructure in the Yangtze River Delta, the project is scheduled to officially start construction in September 2025 and be completed and put into operation in October 2027. During the construction phase, China Energy Construction will integrate top industry resources, utilize advanced technologies such as modular assembly, BIM digital modeling, and smart construction site management to optimize the construction process and shorten the construction period. At the same time, strict implementation of safety production and ecological protection requirements will be carried out to ensure that the project quality and environmental protection standards are met. It is worth mentioning that the project will also synchronously plan supporting new energy facilities such as photovoltaic power stations and energy storage systems. In the future, it will form an integrated energy base of "traditional energy+new energy" to further enhance the stability and flexibility of regional energy supply.

After the project is put into operation, it will not only provide sustained and stable power and heat support for high-end manufacturing and high-tech industries in Suzhou and the core area of the Yangtze River Delta, alleviate the pressure of regional electricity peak, but also promote the energy-saving and carbon reduction transformation of local traditional industries, and help optimize and upgrade the industrial structure. This winning bid is an important breakthrough for China Energy Construction to deepen its cultivation of the energy market in the Yangtze River Delta, and it is also a vivid practice for the company to fulfill its dual mission of "energy supply guarantee+green transformation". Relying on its core competitiveness in the construction of ultra supercritical units and comprehensive energy services, China Energy Engineering Corporation will take this project as a benchmark, continue to participate in regional energy infrastructure construction, and inject strong momentum into the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Delta economy and society. In the future, enterprises will continue to focus on the construction of new power systems, and use more technologically advanced, green and low-carbon high-quality projects to help achieve the national "dual carbon" goal and safeguard energy security and stability.Editor/Bian Wenjun
