Recently, the mobilization conference for the construction of the Da Ji Min Project was held in Tianquan County, Ya'an City, Sichuan Province, marking the official entry of this super water conservancy project with a total investment of 57.5 billion yuan into the construction phase. As the largest cross basin water diversion project in the history of Sichuan's water conservancy, with the longest water transmission line and the widest range of benefits, its completion will benefit 34.13 million people in the Chengdu Plain Economic Zone, providing important support for building a higher-level "Tianfu granary" in the new era.
The project draws water from the reservoir area of the Dadu River Luding Hydropower Station, with a designed annual water intake of 1.523 billion cubic meters and a designed water intake flow rate of 80 cubic meters per second. The project constructs a "one main and two main" water transmission pattern, with a total length of 133 kilometers for the main line, 103 kilometers for the south main line, and 25 kilometers for the north main line. The total length of the water transmission line is 261 kilometers, of which tunnels account for more than 58%, making it known as the "Great Wall of Underground Water Transmission". The water supply area covers 43 counties (cities, districts) in 8 cities including Chengdu, Deyang, and Mianyang.

It is worth noting that the project has innovatively introduced about 4 billion yuan of social capital to participate in construction and operation, demonstrating an important innovation in the investment and financing model of water conservancy construction. The total construction period of the project is 8 years. After completion, it will form a dual source water network system with the Dujiangyan Irrigation Project Water Supply Project, end the history of "single source dependence" in the Chengdu Plain, and inject strong "water momentum" into the high-quality development of the Chengdu Chongqing dual city economic circle. The Da Ji Min Project, proposed in the 1950s, has undergone decades of deliberation and promotion, and has been included in multiple national level plans. In October of this year, the feasibility study report of the project was officially approved by the National Development and Reform Commission. The launch and implementation of this project is a vivid manifestation of the accelerated progress of China's water conservancy construction. Data shows that by 2025, China's water conservancy construction will have completed an investment of 135.29 billion yuan, with 41 new major national water network projects under construction and nearly 47000 projects implemented, providing solid water conservancy support for high-quality economic and social development.
