Recently, China Power Construction Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "PowerChina") has once again achieved good news in the energy storage field. With leading technology solutions, mature project delivery experience, and full industry chain resource integration capabilities, it has successfully obtained the EPC general contracting qualification for three key energy storage power station projects in Guangdong, Inner Mongolia, and Qinghai. The three major projects cover diverse technological routes such as electrochemical energy storage and shared energy storage, with a total energy storage capacity of over 1.2GWh. This is a dual breakthrough for China Power Construction in the field of new energy storage, achieving technological iteration and scale expansion, and will inject strong impetus into the transformation of regional energy structure.
As a leading enterprise in the global energy, power, and infrastructure construction fields, China Power Construction Corporation has been continuously cultivating the new energy storage track in recent years, building a full industry chain service system from technology research and development, planning and design, equipment manufacturing to engineering construction, operation and maintenance. The three major projects that won this bid each have their own characteristics, fully reflecting the company's precise adaptability to energy storage technology in different application scenarios:
A 100MW/200MWh electrochemical energy storage power station project in Guangdong
This project is one of the "14th Five Year Plan" new energy storage demonstration projects in Guangdong Province, focusing on core needs such as grid side peak shaving and valley filling, emergency backup, etc. The project adopts an advanced technology solution of lithium iron phosphate energy storage battery+liquid cooling temperature control system, which has the advantages of fast response speed, high operating efficiency, and strong safety and stability. China Power Construction Corporation will optimize battery PACK grouping technology and configure intelligent energy management system (EMS) to achieve a charging and discharging efficiency of over 92% in power stations, which can meet the daily electricity demand of nearly 100000 households, effectively alleviate the peak electricity pressure in the Pearl River Delta region, and help Guangdong build a new type of power system.

A 400MW/800MWh shared energy storage power station project in Inner Mongolia
As a leading shared energy storage project in the northern region, this project innovatively adopts an operational model of "centralized construction and on-demand distribution" to serve surrounding new energy power stations (wind power, photovoltaic) and industrial users. During the project design phase, full consideration was given to the high-altitude climate characteristics of Inner Mongolia, and the energy storage equipment was retrofitted to adapt to low temperatures, ensuring stable operation in extreme environments of -30 ℃. After the completion of the project, it will effectively improve the consumption rate of new energy in the region. It is expected to reduce the amount of abandoned wind and solar power by more than 500 million kilowatt hours per year, replace coal-fired power generation by about 150000 tons, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 400000 tons, and provide flexible adjustment support for the "West East Power Transmission" channel.

A 200MW/400MWh integrated solar energy storage project in Qinghai
This project deeply integrates photovoltaic power generation and energy storage technology, and is a typical demonstration of new energy development and energy storage application in the Qinghai Tibet Plateau. In response to the environmental characteristics of high altitude, strong ultraviolet radiation, and large temperature difference between day and night in Qinghai, China Power Construction has optimized the heat dissipation structure and battery packaging process of the energy storage system to improve the weather resistance of the equipment; Simultaneously adopting the "photovoltaic+energy storage" collaborative control technology to achieve intelligent scheduling of the entire process of power generation, storage, and transmission. After the project is put into operation, it will further improve the layout of Qinghai's new energy industry, promote the on-site consumption and export of clean energy, and provide a western sample for the implementation of the national "dual carbon" target.

In recent years, with the acceleration of the construction of new power systems, energy storage has become the core link of the coordinated development of "source grid load storage", and market demand continues to explode. With its profound accumulation in the field of energy and power, China Power Construction has participated in over 200 domestic and international energy storage projects, with a total scale exceeding 5GWh. Its technology covers multiple fields such as electrochemistry, pumped storage, and compressed air energy storage. The implementation of these three major projects will further consolidate the company's leading position in the energy storage field and contribute core strength to promoting the large-scale, standardized, and intelligent development of China's energy storage industry. At present, the three major projects have entered the preliminary design stage and are expected to be completed and put into operation by the end of 2025.Editor/Bian Wenjun
