Recently, Chint New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Chint New Energy") officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Alfa Solar, a leading enterprise in Türkiye's energy field, announcing the joint investment in the construction of Türkiye's photovoltaic power station and photovoltaic manufacturing base. This major cooperation, with a total investment of more than 700 million US dollars, is not only the key solution for Chint New Energy to deepen the energy layout of the "the Belt and Road", but also marks that the cooperation between China and Turkey in the field of renewable energy has moved from a single project cooperation to a new stage of coordinated development of the whole industry chain, injecting strong impetus into the green energy transformation of Eurasia.
It is reported that the dual projects signed this time cover two core areas: photovoltaic manufacturing and power station development, forming a closed-loop layout of "manufacturing+application". Among them, the PV manufacturing base project is located in Istanbul Province, Türkiye, with a planned total capacity of 5GW, and will be constructed in two phases: the first phase of 2.5GW TOPCon high-efficiency PV module production line is expected to start construction at the end of 2025, and will be officially put into production in 2027; The second phase will be launched in a timely manner according to market demand, with an additional production capacity of 2.5GW batteries and components. The project will use the new generation TOPCon technology independently developed by Chint Xinneng, which has the advantages of high conversion efficiency and low cost per kilowatt hour. 80% of the products will be exported to Europe, the Middle East and other regions, and the remaining 20% will meet the needs of Türkiye's local market. As the only wholly foreign-funded photovoltaic manufacturing project in Türkiye, the base will enjoy five years of tax relief, land concessions and other policy support provided by the Türkiye government to further reduce production and operating costs.

The total installed capacity of the photovoltaic power station project promoted synchronously reaches 1.2GW, which is distributed in the solar energy resource rich areas such as Ankara, Izmir, Türkiye, and is planned to be developed and constructed in three phases. The power station will all use TOPCon high-efficiency components produced by the manufacturing base, with an estimated total investment of about 320 million US dollars. After completion, the annual power generation can reach 1.8 billion kilowatt hours, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 1.2 million tons per year, equivalent to planting 33000 hectares of forest. The project will not only provide Türkiye with stable green power and ease the pressure on local energy supply, but also bring sustained and stable benefits to investors by participating in transactions in Türkiye's electricity market.
The achievement of this cooperation benefits from Türkiye's superior geographical advantages, rich solar energy resources and active new energy policies. As a hub country connecting Eurasia, Türkiye has vigorously promoted energy transformation in recent years, and proposed the strategic goal of "30% renewable energy power generation by 2030", providing a broad space for foreign enterprises to participate in local new energy construction. Chint Xinneng has become an important partner in Türkiye market by virtue of its profound accumulation in photovoltaic technology research and development, whole industry chain layout, large-scale project operation, etc. Both parties will leverage their respective strengths to jointly promote project construction and operation, and create a benchmark project for energy cooperation between China and Turkey.

From the perspective of Chint New Energy's overseas strategic layout, the signing of Türkiye's double projects is an important milestone for the company's global development. In recent years, Chint New Energy has accelerated its expansion into overseas markets and has established multiple photovoltaic manufacturing bases and power plant projects in countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia. Its products have been exported to over 100 countries and regions worldwide. This entry into the Türkiye market will further improve the company's production capacity layout in Eurasia, rely on Türkiye's regional advantages, radiate core markets in Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia and so on, and enhance the company's core competitiveness in the global photovoltaic industry.
Nan Cunhui, Chairman of Chint New Energy, said that the signing of Türkiye's dual projects is the specific practice of the company to respond to the "the Belt and Road" initiative and deepen international energy cooperation. In the future, the company will continue to increase its R&D investment and global layout in the field of renewable energy, work with Türkiye and global partners to jointly promote the innovation and application of green energy technology, and contribute China's wisdom and strength to achieving the global "double carbon" goal and building a community with a shared future for mankind.
At present, both parties have established a joint project working group to promote preliminary work such as site selection for manufacturing bases, factory design, and power station project filing. Relevant departments of Türkiye government will also provide all-round support for the project to ensure the smooth progress of the project. It is expected that the first phase of the manufacturing base project and the first phase of the power station project will be put into operation simultaneously in 2027, which will create more than 2000 job opportunities for the local area, drive the development of upstream and downstream industries, and make a significant contribution to the economic cooperation and green development between China and Turkey.Editor/Bian Wenjun
