Recently, the bidding results for the construction of the G5518 Jincheng Tongguan Expressway Yangcheng Yuncheng section (hereinafter referred to as "Yangyun Expressway") with a total investment of 22.96 billion yuan were officially announced, marking the substantial progress of the construction of this transportation artery connecting southern Shanxi and Shaanxi. As a key project in Shanxi Province's "14th Five Year Plan" for comprehensive transportation system planning, the implementation of the project will further improve the regional road network bureau, injecting strong momentum into the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin, as well as the coordinated development of the Shanxi Shaanxi Henan region.

It is reported that G5518 Yangyun Expressway starts from Yangcheng County, Jincheng City, passes through Jincheng, Linfen, and Yuncheng, and ends at Fenglingdu Town (Jin Shan border), Ruicheng County, Yuncheng City. The total length of the route is about 195 kilometers, constructed according to the standard of a two-way four lane expressway, with a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour. The terrain along the project is complex, and multiple extra long tunnels, large bridges, and interchanges will be constructed. The engineering and technical difficulties are high, and the construction standards are high. The winning bidder stands out with its rich experience in highway construction, mature technical solutions, and full chain performance capabilities. In the future, it will strictly follow the planning and design requirements, promote project refinement construction, and ensure project quality and construction safety.

From a strategic perspective, Yangyun Expressway is a key component of G5518 Jincheng Tongguan Expressway. After completion, it will achieve seamless connection with national highways such as G5 Jingkun Expressway and G35 Jiguang Expressway, greatly reducing the travel time from Yangcheng to Yuncheng and solving the bottleneck problem of east-west traffic in southern Shanxi. At the same time, the project will connect advantageous resources such as coal, cultural tourism, and agriculture along the route, building a new pattern of integrated development of "transportation+industry", helping to efficiently circulate regional resources and upgrade industries, and opening up new paths for the economic and social development of cities and counties along the route. In addition, as an important channel for the interconnection between Shanxi and Shaanxi provinces, the project will deepen the cooperation in the Jin Shaan Yu Yellow River Golden Triangle region, promote the cross regional flow of people, logistics, and capital, and provide solid transportation support for the coordinated development of the Yellow River Basin.

Currently, Shanxi Province is accelerating the construction of a transportation network pattern of "one main, three auxiliary, and six city centers". The construction of Yangyun Expressway is not only a specific practice to implement the strategy of building a strong transportation country, but also an important measure to promote regional coordinated development.
