On the vast desert of the Iburi region in Oman, a green energy base led by Chinese companies is about to emerge. Recently, Oman's first centralized photovoltaic energy storage project, the Iburi Phase III Independent Power Generation Project, officially signed a general contracting contract. China Power Engineering Consulting Group International Engineering Co., Ltd., as the project leader, will work together with partners to create this milestone clean energy project. The project plans to construct a 500MW photovoltaic power station and a 100MWh battery energy storage system, with a significant total investment scale, marking a major breakthrough for Chinese enterprises in the Middle East new energy market and injecting strong impetus into the deep cooperation between China and Arab countries in the field of renewable energy.

Light storage fusion solution solves the problem of energy stability
The Iburi Phase III project innovatively adopts a "photovoltaic+energy storage" system solution. Through the intelligent collaboration of a 500MW photovoltaic power station and a 100MWh battery energy storage system, it not only fully utilizes the clean advantages of solar energy resources, but also effectively overcomes the intermittent problem of photovoltaic power generation. This advanced configuration can achieve stable power output and significantly enhance the grid's ability to absorb renewable energy, representing the optimal path for global renewable energy development. The project will adopt the latest photovoltaic tracking technology and efficient energy storage system to ensure stable operation even under extreme weather conditions. This innovative model will provide important reference for the development of similar projects in the Middle East and promote the application and popularization of integrated light storage technology worldwide.
Significant emission reductions boost Oman's carbon neutrality process
According to professional institutions' calculations, after the operation of the Iburi Phase III project, more than 500000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced annually, equivalent to the carbon sequestration effect of planting 14000 hectares of forest. This emission reduction scale will directly help Oman achieve its "2050 Carbon Neutrality" strategic goal and accelerate the country's energy structure towards low-carbon transformation. The clean electricity generated by the project each year can meet the electricity needs of about 33000 households. While providing stable energy security, it will also create a large number of job opportunities for the local area, drive the development of the new energy industry chain, and achieve a synergistic win-win situation between economic and environmental benefits. The successful implementation of this project will significantly increase the proportion of renewable energy in Oman's energy structure, setting an example for the energy transition of Gulf countries.
