In the vast Khavda renewable energy park in India, an energy storage revolution is quietly unfolding. Adani Group has officially announced the construction of its flagship battery energy storage project, with a capacity of 1126 MW/3530 MWh. This system consists of over 700 battery storage containers, making it not only India's largest planned battery storage facility to date, but also one of the world's leading single site energy storage deployment scales. It is expected to be put into operation in March 2026 and will help Khavda Park become a globally leading integrated base for "renewable energy+energy storage".
Collaborative efforts between lithium-ion batteries and intelligent systems
This project adopts advanced lithium-ion battery technology and integrates cutting-edge energy management systems to achieve optimal operational performance and reliability. The energy storage system is designed to last for three hours and can effectively participate in peak load regulation and energy period transfer of the power grid, playing a key role in promoting low-carbon transformation in the power sector. This facility will be closely integrated with the existing solar and wind power generation capabilities in the Khavda Park, enabling flexible power dispatch during periods of insufficient renewable energy output or high electricity demand, thereby improving grid stability and reducing wind and solar power curtailment.

Adani accelerates energy storage capacity expansion
Adani Group has also released a more ambitious blueprint for energy storage development. The company plans to add 15 gigawatt hours of battery energy storage capacity by March 2027 and strives to increase the total scale to 50 gigawatt hours within the next five years. This series of deployments will significantly consolidate its market position in the field of large-scale energy storage in India and even globally, providing strong support for the achievement of India's national renewable energy consumption and grid connection goals.
