Under the sunshine of North Africa, an energy artery connecting the future is about to be launched. The Moroccan National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) recently announced the construction of a 1000 kilometer ultra-high voltage transmission line from Boujdur to Tanxift. This energy corridor, planned to be put into operation in December 2028, is expected to deliver approximately 2000 megawatts of renewable electricity. It will not only effectively connect the southern and central regions of the kingdom, but also promote Morocco's energy transformation into a new stage.
Details Disclosure of Ultra High Voltage Project
The project will be promoted through an engineering, procurement, and construction general contracting model, ensuring the smooth implementation of the project through a "turnkey" approach. According to the plan, ONEE will select qualified manufacturers to participate in the second stage of bidding after pre qualification. This ultra-high voltage line will become the backbone project of the Moroccan power grid, specifically designed to transport the abundant renewable energy in the south to the central load center, significantly optimizing the power grid structure and strengthening power supply safety.

Comprehensive acceleration of power grid construction
In addition to the ultra-high voltage backbone network, ONEE is also synchronously promoting other key power grid projects. Among them, a 400 kV double circuit line is planned to be put into operation in mid-2026, which will add about 900 MW of transmission capacity, mainly for the consumption of electricity from newly built wind farms. These projects together constitute a series of measures for Morocco to strengthen its power grid infrastructure, reflecting the country's firm commitment to sustainable development and safe, reliable, and low-carbon electricity supply. The industrial chain welcomes a good opportunity for development
This 1000 kilometer level ultra-high voltage project brings clear market opportunities to the related industry chain. In the field of EPC general contracting and construction, contractors with international project experience and ultra-high voltage technology capabilities will have important business opportunities. At the same time, the project will directly drive a surge in demand for power equipment such as transformers, GIS switchgear, and high-voltage cables. For investors in renewable energy generation, this transmission channel provides a reliable "export channel" for large-scale wind and photovoltaic projects in the south, which will greatly boost investment confidence.
