On the morning of November 30, 2025, with the progress of foundation laying and soil cultivation, the China Europe Railway Express (Yiwu) Railway Port Phase III Industrial Zone project officially announced the start of construction. This project is not only a major component of Zhejiang Province's thousand trillion yuan project, but also a key support for consolidating the level of the Zhejiang China Europe freight train assembly center, marking a solid step forward for Yiwu in building a hub on the land Silk Road.
Targeting development bottlenecks, expansion and upgrading are imperative
According to the on-site introduction, the third phase of the industrial zone project that started construction this time has a grand plan, covering an area of about 1450 acres, a total construction area of about 1.14 million square meters, and a total investment of about 5.03 billion yuan. The project aims to systematically address the station and supporting bottlenecks caused by the rapid development of the China Europe freight train (Yiwu).

At present, the first and second phases of Yiwu Railway Port have been completed and put into use, providing a solid foundation for the efficient operation of China Europe freight trains. However, with the continuous expansion of train operation scale and the explosive growth of cross-border logistics demand, the operational capacity and warehousing facilities of existing stations are gradually unable to meet future development needs, "said the relevant person in charge of Yiwu International Land Port Group. The implementation of the new project is aimed at systematically improving overall operational efficiency by integrating functional modules such as port operations, smart warehousing, and joint inspection facilities.
Focus on five major functions and create a modern logistics hub
According to the plan, the third phase of the industrial zone will focus on building five core functional areas and constructing a more intelligent and integrated international logistics ecosystem:
The China Europe freight train international cargo consolidation area aims to enhance the ability of cargo aggregation, distribution, and consolidation, improve the full load rate and operational efficiency of the train.
Smart Warehouse Area: Applying automation and digital technology to achieve efficient and accurate warehouse management, meeting diverse warehousing needs.
Supporting service area: providing one-stop services such as customs declaration, inspection, finance, and business, optimizing the business environment at the port.
Container Management Center: Strengthen the unified scheduling and management of container resources, improve container turnover efficiency, and reduce operating costs.
Information Service Center: Build a port big data platform to achieve seamless integration and transparency of logistics, commercial flow, and information flow.
The integration of this series of functions will significantly enhance the comprehensive capabilities and levels of the Zhejiang China Europe freight train assembly center in terms of cargo assembly, transportation, distribution, and industrial agglomeration.

Strengthen hub capacity and empower regional economy
The direct effect of the project construction is to significantly expand the container processing capacity of Yiwu West Railway Station, especially to enhance the connection and conversion efficiency of sea rail intermodal transportation. This will not only further improve the gathering and transportation speed of goods on the China Europe freight train, shorten the overall logistics time, but also effectively reduce the comprehensive logistics costs of enterprises through economies of scale and process optimization, providing a more stable, efficient, and economical international logistics channel for foreign trade in Zhejiang and even the Yangtze River Delta region.
To ensure the rapid progress of this major project, relevant departments in Yiwu City have demonstrated efficient execution in the early stages of the project, implementing centralized efforts in key areas such as land approval and scheme design optimization, paving the way for the smooth commencement and subsequent construction of the project.
