Lumos Robotics has completed the Pre-A1 and Pre-A2 rounds of financing, amounting to several hundred million yuan. The Pre-A1 round was led by CDH Investments, with follow-on investments from Nanjing Innovation Capital, King Vision Capital, and Jin Gu Co., Ltd. The Pre-A2 round was invested by Shenergy Chengyi Investment. This round of financing will be used for the company's continued investment in embodied intelligence data and hardware fields.
Leveraging Globally Leading UMI Data Collection Technology to Seize the Entry Point for Robot Training Data
Real-world training data is a key infrastructure for general-purpose robot operational brains, with cost, efficiency, and generalization being the primary considerations. The GEN-0 large model recently launched by the U.S.-based Generalist company, which uses 270,000 hours of real-world data collection to preliminarily observe Scaling Law in the field of embodied intelligence, primarily relies on UMI data collection. Lumos Robotics' current FastUMI technology can be considered an upgraded version of this data collection method, offering three times the efficiency of traditional data collection, only one-fifth of the cost, and precision reaching 1-3mm, far surpassing industry standards. Based on this technology, Lumos has preliminarily completed the accumulation of 10,000 hours of data and the training of a foundational model, and is building an ecosystem for embodied data with end-to-end capabilities encompassing data hardware, software, and models.

A Decade of Refinement: Continuous Advancement in Hardware Performance Advantages
The company’s team, leveraging over a decade of accumulated experience, continues to make breakthroughs in hardware innovation. For example, based on self-developed high-torque-density integrated joints, the company has created the industry's first embodied dual-arm robot with a 50kg load capacity per arm. The fully PEEK-material cycloidal joint module reduces weight by 40%, increases torque density by 60%, operates quietly, and is expected to become a standard for humanoid robots entering households in the future.
Industry and Services: Highly Recognized by Leading Industry Partners
In terms of industry collaboration, the company has high-quality customers and strategic partners, including Japan’s Mitsubishi and COSCO Shipping, as well as strategic shareholders with strong industrial backgrounds such as Fosun Group, SenseTime, Dematic, and Jin Gu Co., Ltd. The LUS robot won the silver medal for group dance at the inaugural World Humanoid Robot Games, and the Lumos Xiaoming robot team was the only live-performing humanoid robot dance troupe at the closing ceremony of the National Games.

Team Further Strengthened: A "Talent Hub" Rapidly Taking Shape
Behind the rapid development is a core team with profound industry experience and technical expertise. The company’s founder, Yu Chao, graduated from Tsinghua University and began working on robotic learning algorithms in 2016, building the embodied robotics business at Dreame and developing multiple robots and consumer electronics products, including the robotic dog "Iron Egg." CTO Cao Junliang holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and also entered the industry in 2016, having dedicated "a decade of refinement" to developing multiple high-performance embodied robotics products in the field of embodied intelligence hardware. Co-CTO Ding Yan holds a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from the State University of New York and is a former star researcher at the Shanghai AI Laboratory. Over 70% of the company’s team consists of R&D personnel, including more than ten Ph.D. holders, forming a rapidly growing "talent hub" in embodied intelligence.
Regarding this round of financing, Yu Chao, Founder and CEO of Lumos Robotics, stated:
"This round of financing will help us deepen R&D in the two major infrastructures of embodied intelligence—data and hardware—to create the best products and application ecosystems. We will work with ecosystem partners to identify the highest-value scenarios for commercialization. This round of investment includes leading financial institutions, industrial capital, and overseas consortiums, fully demonstrating the recognition of all parties for Lumos’ technology and product strength."
Wang Chen, Senior Partner of CDH Vtrust, stated:
"In the current stage of embodied intelligence development, the requirements for teams are increasingly high. Teams need to possess profound industry experience, comprehensive technical capabilities, and commercialization expertise. Within just one year of its establishment, Lumos Robotics has established comprehensive technical capabilities, including hardware and data, launched four products, and achieved commercialization with leading clients such as COSCO Shipping and Japan’s Mitsubishi, reflecting the team’s exceptionally strong overall capabilities. We are confident that the team will maintain its rapid development momentum, retain its industry-leading technical capabilities, and achieve mass production."
Leng Fei, Investment Director of Nanjing Innovation Capital Group, stated:
"Lumos Robotics’ technical accumulation and strategic layout in the field of embodied intelligence are impressive, particularly its dual breakthroughs in data collection hardware and robot body innovation, demonstrating strong underlying technology R&D capabilities and a clear commercialization path. We are optimistic about its long-term vision of building physical world infrastructure with data-driven technology at its core. Nanjing Innovation Capital Group will continue to support Lumos’ team in key technology breakthroughs and industrial ecosystem development, jointly promoting the advancement of embodied intelligence in Nanjing."
Yao Wang, Partner of King Vision Capital, stated:
"Lumos Robotics stands as an exceptionally dynamic benchmark force in the emerging field of embodied intelligence. This is underpinned by the deep expertise of industry veterans. Under the leadership of Founder Yu Chao, the company leverages profound industry insights, clear strategic judgment, differentiated technology positioning, and efficient execution capabilities to achieve breakthroughs in both product technology and commercialization. It demonstrates not only vigorous developmental momentum but also outstanding traits of courage, strategic thinking, and dedicated refinement."
Sun Qunhui, Vice President and Board Secretary of Jin Gu Co., Ltd., stated:
"Jin Gu Co., Ltd.’s strategic investment in Lumos Robotics is based on a deep strategic choice of complementary strengths. Although Lumos Robotics was established relatively recently, it has already demonstrated strong technical capabilities and innovative potential in the field of humanoid robots and their core components. Jin Gu Co., Ltd. is highly optimistic about Lumos Robotics’ development potential in the intelligent robotics sector. In the future, the two parties will combine Jin Gu Co., Ltd.’s extensive resources in the automotive industry chain with Lumos Robotics’ embodied robotics technology to jointly advance scenario co-creation and commercialization. Additionally, Jin Gu Co., Ltd. will promote the innovative R&D and mass production of various new materials, including Avatar niobium micro-alloy materials, in key robot components, providing support for Lumos Robotics’ performance enhancement and industrial-scale promotion."
Ma Xiaoxiao, Vice President of the Investment Department at Shenergy Chengyi Investment, stated:
"The current level of achievement in large language models results from compressing and feeding massive amounts of textual data. The ultimate manifestation of embodied intelligence requires interaction within the physical world. Therefore, robots serve as the optimal carriers for the transition from perceptual intelligence to interactive intelligence. The Lumos team possesses full-stack self-research capabilities in hardware, motion control ‘little brain,’ and model algorithm ‘big brain.’ Pragmatism is ingrained in Lumos’ team DNA, and the company has already achieved commercialization in high-value scenarios such as flexible quality inspection and logistics sorting. This investment is not merely capital injection; we will also leverage industrial scenario resources and ecosystem partners to jointly explore commercialization paths for embodied intelligence with Lumos and contribute to the nation’s development of new quality productive forces."Editor/Cheng Liting
