On December 15, 2025, Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania Chen Mingjian and Tanzanian Police Chief Inspector Vambra jointly attended the inauguration ceremony of the Tanzanian the Belt and Road Security Coordination Center, opening a new chapter in the police cooperation between the two countries.
Establishing a normalized platform to strengthen security defenses
At the unveiling ceremony, Ambassador Chen Mingjian congratulated Director Wambula. She pointed out that the Tanzania the Belt and Road Security Coordination Center was officially listed in Dar es Salaam, providing a normalized communication platform for China Tanzania cooperation under the the Belt and Road. The establishment of this platform marks a new stage of cooperation between the two countries in the field of security, ensuring that security and development go hand in hand and jointly writing a new chapter of friendly cooperation between China and Tanzania. Director Wambula highly recognizes this. He emphasized that Tanzania is willing to work with China to fully ensure the safety of Chinese institutions, projects, and citizens in Tanzania, promote police exchanges between the two countries, and assist in the development of friendly relations between Tanzania and China. This statement fully reflects the Tanzanian government's high attention to China Tanzania cooperation and strong protection of China's interests in Tanzania.

In recent years, China Tanzania cooperation under the the Belt and Road framework has yielded fruitful results. China has become Tanzania's largest trading partner, largest engineering contractor, and main source of investment, with Chinese enterprises investing over 6.6 billion US dollars in Tanzania. These investments cover a range of infrastructure projects such as ports, bridges, railways, and highways, making outstanding contributions to the economic development of Tanzania. In terms of security cooperation, China and Tanzania have always maintained close communication and cooperation. The establishment of this security coordination center is a consolidation and enhancement of the existing cooperation achievements. After the ceremony, Ambassador Chen also handed over a batch of police supplies to the Tanzanian side, further enriching their law enforcement equipment and providing strong support for subsequent cooperation.
