Mingyang Group recently signed a supply agreement for the Saudi Arabia SPPC R6 wind power project with the UAE Public Utility Development Company, marking the first time that Chinese wind power companies have deeply entered the traditional energy market in the Middle East as core equipment suppliers
Major order breakthrough
The installed capacity of this project reaches 1.5GW, which is the largest single order obtained by Mingyang overseas so far. The project is located in Dawadi District, Riyadh Province, Saudi Arabia. It is jointly developed by Korea Electric Power Company, Nesma Renewable Energy in Saudi Arabia, and Etihad Water&Electricity in the United Arab Emirates. It adopts the BOO model and has signed a 25 year power purchase agreement. The project's levelized electricity cost has dropped to 1.338 cents per kilowatt hour, setting a new low for global wind power prices.
Systematic market layout
Mingyang's successful bid this time is based on years of systematic and deep cultivation of the Middle East market. Starting from 2023, the group will participate in regional energy exhibitions, showcase MySE series wind turbines suitable for desert environments, and establish technical cooperation with Middle Eastern energy giants such as ACWA Power and Masdar. The strategic cooperation agreement reached with ACWA Power in 2025 laid an important foundation for winning the bid for this project.

Strategic Upgrade Challenge
After successfully entering the Middle East market, Mingyang will face a strategic upgrade from product output to industrial roots. The project requires the delivery of 146 specially designed fans that are resistant to high temperatures and dust, and will achieve commercial operation by the end of 2028. In the context of ultra-low electricity prices and harsh environmental conditions, the comprehensive performance ability of enterprises will face a comprehensive test. Keywords: wind power energy grid, wind power new energy
The winning bid of this project not only opens up a new situation for Mingyang in the Middle East market, but also provides an important model for China's wind power equipment manufacturing industry to participate in the global energy transformation, demonstrating the competitive strength and development potential of Chinese enterprises in the international new energy market.
