In the cold winter season, the new energy sector welcomes a cluster of enthusiasm. On December 25, a memorandum issued by Ningde Times WeChat official account announced one of the most significant cooperation in the energy storage industry. Zeng Yuqun, Chairman of CATL, and Dong Zengping, Chairman of Siyuan Electric, jointly witnessed the signing of a three-year energy storage cooperation memorandum with a target capacity of up to 50GWh. This scene is not only the second collaboration between the two companies since their alliance in 2022, but also seen by the industry as a key step towards deep integration of the energy storage industry chain.

Three major collaborative directions
1. Dual empowerment of the industrial chain
According to the agreement, both parties will achieve complementary upstream and downstream resources around energy storage systems, transmission and distribution equipment, and other aspects. CATL provides battery cell technology and large-scale production capacity support, while Sibu Electric relies on its power equipment integration capabilities to jointly improve project delivery efficiency. This binding of "technology+scenario" is expected to solve the reliability problem in the implementation of energy storage projects.
2. Technological breakthroughs and large-scale applications
The cooperation will strengthen joint technological research and focus on optimizing the adaptability of energy storage systems in power scenarios such as peak shaving and frequency regulation. Through data sharing and simulation testing, accelerate product iteration, and promote energy storage from "demonstration projects" to grid level large-scale applications. It is reported that both sides have planned special solutions for new energy bases in Northwest and South China.
3. Building a sustainable cooperative ecosystem
Ningde Times emphasized in the announcement that this cooperation is not only for commercial win-win, but also explores a new paradigm of industry collaboration. By connecting the entire chain of research and development, manufacturing, and operation, the two companies are attempting to create an energy storage supply chain that "eliminates weaknesses and enhances resilience", providing a replicable model for the construction of China's new power system.
A power capacity of 50GWh is equivalent to providing daily electricity for over 2 million households. Against the backdrop of increasingly fierce competition in the energy storage industry, this cooperation further consolidates CATL's leading position in the energy storage field and opens up a breakthrough for Siyuan Electric to enter the billion dollar energy storage market. Analysts point out that leading companies replacing zero sum competition with ecological cooperation may reshape the industry landscape and drive China's energy storage industry from a price war to a value war.Editor/Yang Meiling
