On January 12, 2026, with the receipt of a full advance payment, Comoros, an archipelagic country located in the western Indian Ocean, reached a crucial milestone in its energy and livelihood development. The Comoros Anjouan Photovoltaic Integrated Energy General Contracting Project, undertaken by Dongfang International, a subsidiary of Dongfang Electric Group, has officially come into effect. This is not only Dongfang Electric's first entry into the Comoros market, but also will bring stable and clean light and spring to its islands.

Opening a new chapter of cooperation

This project is the first engineering project signed and effective by Dongfang Electric in Comoros, and its significance is extraordinary. With funding support from the World Bank, this project has become the largest integrated energy generation project in Comoros to date. The official implementation of the project marks a substantial step forward in the practical cooperation between China and Science and Technology in the field of green energy, and lays a solid foundation for further deepening cooperation.

Solving the core problems of hydropower

The project design is highly targeted and directly addresses the two major development bottlenecks faced by Comoros, namely power and water shortages. The core scope of its work includes the construction of three distributed photovoltaic power stations on the three main islands of Comoros - Grande Comore Island, Anjouan Island, and Morelli Island. The power station will all use high-efficiency "Made in the East" N-type double-sided double glass photovoltaic modules. It is worth mentioning that the project innovatively combines energy construction with people's livelihood improvement, not only generating electricity, but also synchronously supporting the construction of domestic water supply pipelines and some transmission lines, forming an integrated comprehensive solution of "light, electricity, and water". Especially the power station on the island of Grande Comore, which is only about 20 kilometers away from the capital Moroni, will provide crucial stable power support for the city center after completion. Accelerate project construction

At present, the project has fully entered the stage of equipment procurement and construction preparation, and is rapidly advancing. The procurement work has been carried out in an orderly manner, and some key equipment has completed bidding. For example, the photovoltaic brackets required for the project were awarded to Hangzhou Huading Solar Energy Technology Co., Ltd. on December 21, 2025. At the same time, the procurement of other core equipment such as inverters and energy storage systems is also in full swing. This series of developments indicates that this comprehensive energy project, which carries the expectations of the Comorian people, is about to enter the on-site construction stage, injecting strong green momentum into the sustainable development of the "Moon Country".
