From Kazakhstan's Rehabilitation and Wellness New City to Laos' Balai Green Energy Hub, China Power Construction has demonstrated the comprehensive service capabilities and responsibility of Chinese enterprises in the international engineering field through two landmark overseas projects, contributing Chinese wisdom to regional sustainable development.

A new city integrating cutting-edge rehabilitation medicine and ecological intelligence concepts will emerge in the vast land of Jiangbu'er District, Almaty Oblast, Kazakhstan in the future. And between the lush mountains and rivers of Laos, a "electric heart" that lights up thousands of households is about to begin its powerful pulsation. These two magnificent blueprints that cross national borders took a crucial step from planning to reality on January 13, 2026, thanks to the strong capabilities of China Electric Power Construction Corporation.

On January 13th, China Electric Power Construction Corporation announced that its subsidiary had successfully signed two major EPC general contracting contracts in Kazakhstan and Laos within one day, with a total amount of approximately 15.589 billion yuan, once again demonstrating its leading position in the global infrastructure construction field.

6.8 billion yuan to build a benchmark for health and rehabilitation

The first contract comes from Central Asia. China Hydropower Construction Group International Engineering Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Electric Power Construction Corporation, and Kazakhstan Nurbarasag Zassel Co., Ltd. will jointly construct the first phase of the "Nurbarasag Zassel" multifunctional rehabilitation center construction project (East Zone).

Project value: The contract amount is approximately 6.873 billion RMB.

Project vision: The project aims to create Kazakhstan's first benchmark comprehensive community that integrates international standard rehabilitation services and ecological smart cities. It is not only a medical rehabilitation center, but also a sustainable modern residential demonstration area.

Core content: This project mainly covers the construction of public buildings, residential areas, landscapes, and infrastructure. The work runs through the entire process of survey, design, procurement, and construction, and can be seen as laying a solid foundation for this "healthy oasis".

Construction period: The project contract has a duration of approximately 60 months (5 years).

The implementation of this project marks the international recognition of China's advanced concepts and comprehensive strength in the planning and construction of medical and health care complexes, and will become a new model for cooperation between China and Kazakhstan in the field of people's livelihood engineering.

Building a 770 MW hydroelectric hub worth 8.7 billion yuan

On the same day, China Power Construction's "going global" journey also yielded fruitful results in Southeast Asia. Its subsidiary, China Power Construction International Engineering Co., Ltd., has jointly signed an EPC general contract with China Power Construction (Laos) Co., Ltd. for the Laos Palai Hydropower Station project.

Project value: The contract amount is approximately 8.716 billion RMB.

Project scale: The core of this project is to build a large hydropower station with a total installed capacity of 770 megawatts, which will install 14 55 megawatt bulb tubular units. The supporting projects also include booster stations and 500kV transmission and transformation lines, forming a complete power generation and transmission system.

Significance: After completion, this project will become an important source of electricity for Laos, not only meeting the needs of the country's economic development and people's livelihood, but also delivering clean energy to neighboring countries through the regional power grid, helping Laos to build a national strategy of "Southeast Asian battery".Construction period: The contract period for the entire project is approximately 84 months (7 years).

This contract is another masterpiece of China Power Construction Corporation's deep cultivation of the Laotian market and assistance in local clean energy development, reflecting the commitment of Chinese enterprises to share development achievements with the jointly built country.

Showcasing China's comprehensive infrastructure strength and responsibility

It is not by chance that within a day, two countries thousands of miles apart signed major projects of equal importance but with vastly different natures. It clearly demonstrates the dual core capabilities of China Power Construction and even the Chinese infrastructure industry:

Diversified business collaboration capability: From professional energy and power (especially hydropower engineering) to complex urban comprehensive development (including medical, residential, and infrastructure), China Power Construction has a strong ability to provide "one-stop" comprehensive solutions, which can flexibly respond to the differentiated needs of different countries.

Deep integration into national development: Two projects directly address Kazakhstan's needs for "people's livelihoods and smart cities" and Laos' "energy independence and green development" strategy, indicating that Chinese companies' overseas cooperation has evolved from a single project contracting to a new model deeply bound to the long-term development vision of the host country and mutually beneficial.

These two contracts, with a total amount of more than 15 billion yuan, not only provide a strong driving force for the performance growth of POWERCHINA, but also provide a vivid practice of combining the "hard connectivity" of infrastructure with the "soft connectivity" of people's livelihood under the "the Belt and Road" initiative. In the coming years, with the steady progress of these two iconic projects, they will become monuments of friendship and witnesses of development standing on the land of Kazakhstan and Laos.Editor/Yang Meiling
