When the first ray of morning light penetrated the thin mist of Inner Mongolia grassland and fell on the construction site of Rongxin Chemical's 800000 ton olefin project, the splashing arc light of welding flowers and the roar of construction vehicles had already played a progressive melody of industrial construction in northern Xinjiang. This once quiet land has risen to become a modern highland of olefin industry thanks to the day and night perseverance of a group of builders. From a blueprint to towering steel towers, from pipelines crisscrossing to equipment roaring, Rongxin Chemical is writing a new chapter of industrial upgrading on the land of northern Xinjiang with practical work and innovation.

Building an industrial highland on the barren land

At the beginning of the landing of Rongxin Chemical's 800000 ton olefin project, it faced a dual test of natural environment and engineering technology. In winter in northern Xinjiang, the lowest temperature can reach minus 30 degrees Celsius, and the cold wind is like a sharp blade, posing great challenges to outdoor operations such as equipment installation and concrete pouring. In order to catch up with the construction schedule, the construction team innovatively adopted the "winter construction insulation shed" technology, built a closed working space, equipped with heating equipment, and ensured that key processes such as concrete curing and pipeline welding were not affected by low temperatures.

During the project construction process, the transportation and lifting of large equipment is another challenge. The individual components of the core cracking furnace weigh hundreds of tons and need to be transported long distances by road from the port to the construction site. Along the way, not only do we have to cross hills and ravines, but we also have to pass through multiple village and town roads. The project team collaborated with transportation and road administration departments in advance to develop a detailed transportation plan, reinforced bridges along the way, widened and leveled roads, and ultimately achieved the safe delivery of large-scale equipment with zero accidents.

At the technical level, the project targets the leading domestic olefin production process and adopts independently developed catalytic cracking technology. Compared with traditional processes, energy consumption is reduced by 15% and olefin yield is increased by 8%. In order to ensure the implementation of technology, dozens of engineers have taken root on site, working side by side with construction personnel, repeatedly debugging equipment parameters, optimizing process flow, and overcoming multiple technical difficulties such as catalyst loading and high-temperature cracking furnace temperature control. After more than 1000 days and nights of hard work, the first phase of the project was successfully completed by CCCC, and a modern olefin production base was built on the barren land.

Building a benchmark for circular economy in northern Xinjiang

As a key industrial project in northern Xinjiang, Rongxin Chemical has always adhered to the concept of "green and low-carbon" since its construction, committed to creating a modern chemical park that integrates production, environmental protection, and recycling. The project is equipped with a waste heat recovery system, which converts the high-temperature waste heat generated by the cracking furnace into steam for heating and power generation in the factory area. It can save over 100000 tons of standard coal annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 260000 tons.

In terms of wastewater treatment, the project has invested in the construction of a sewage treatment plant with a daily processing capacity of 20000 tons, adopting a process route of "pretreatment+biochemical treatment+deep treatment" to achieve full reuse of production wastewater. The treated reclaimed water is not only used for greening irrigation and equipment cooling in the factory area, but also transported to surrounding farmland through pipelines to assist in local agricultural water-saving irrigation. At the same time, the project has also built a solid waste disposal center to classify and recycle waste catalysts, waste residues, and other materials generated during the production process, achieving zero landfill of solid waste.

Now, entering the 800000 ton olefin project plant of Rongxin Chemical, the green trees provide shade, birds sing and flowers fragrance, and the clean and tidy production workshop complements the blue sky and white clouds. This emerging landmark of olefins in northern Xinjiang not only injects strong impetus into regional economic development, but also becomes a model for the transformation and upgrading of traditional chemical industries in northern Xinjiang with a green and low-carbon development model. In the future, Rongxin Chemical will continue to deepen its involvement in the olefin industry chain, extending its high-end polyolefins and fine chemical products downstream, and making greater contributions to promoting high-quality industrial development in northern Xinjiang.Editor/Bian Wenjun
