Under the witness of the Portuguese government, China's leading power battery company, Innovation Airlines, has completed a major contract with the Portuguese Economic and Trade Investment Promotion Agency. This super factory, which plans to invest up to 2 billion euros, will not only change the map of Europe's new energy industry, but is also seen as a key step for Chinese enterprises to globalize their layout. From the construction site at Sinis Port to the order books of mainstream European car companies, a green energy story spanning Europe and Asia is slowly unfolding.

Global layout, spanning across Europe and Asia

This Portuguese project is the second key chess piece set by China Innovation Airlines overseas, following its base in Thailand. The factory is located in the strategic logistics hub of Sinis Port in Portugal, aiming to build a triangular production capacity network covering China, ASEAN, and Europe. This layout directly responds to the increasingly complex international trade environment, effectively avoiding potential trade barriers through localized production, and significantly reducing supply chain costs and logistics time, laying a solid foundation for stable delivery to European customers.

Zero carbon intelligent manufacturing, technology leadership

The factory is positioned as a zero carbon AI super factory, integrating highly intelligent and automated concepts into every production process. The project has a huge planned annual production capacity, with the first phase reaching 15GWh and expandable to 45GWh, expected to create 1800 direct job opportunities. This is not only a factory, but also a showcase for advanced battery manufacturing technology. Zhongchuang Chuanghang will provide battery products for international mainstream car companies including Toyota, Volkswagen, Ford, and Audi, and is working with some car companies to jointly develop a new generation battery platform suitable for the European market. Dual empowerment, co creating the future

For Portugal, this project is a core initiative to build a complete lithium battery industry chain and compete for technological competitiveness in the era of new energy vehicles. The Portuguese government attaches great importance to it, provides corresponding subsidies, and attends the high-level signing ceremony. At the same time, as Chinese electric vehicle brands such as Zero Run and Xiaopeng accelerate their entry into Europe, the factory may also provide localized support for them in the future, forming a win-win cycle from Chinese technology to European manufacturing, and then serving the global market. Although the project has gone through two years from memorandum to commencement and faced many challenges, its successful promotion marks a new stage of deep integration in the globalization of China's new energy industry chain.Editor/Gao Xue
