On January 27, 2026, the Fourth Session of the 14th People's Congress of Hubei Province opened, and the construction of the Hubei section of the Xi'an Shiyan high-speed railway and the Yichang Zhengwan high-speed railway connecting line was listed as one of the top ten livelihood projects of the year. This year, the high-speed rail network in Hubei experienced explosive growth, with multiple "dead end roads" connected and the status of "national overpasses" further highlighted.

Two major arteries will be opened within the year, and the northwest and western Hubei will join hands

By mid-2026, the West Ten High Speed Railway, an important component of the Wuhan West High Speed Railway, will be completed and put into operation. This 255.7 kilometer steel dragon that crosses the Qinling Mountains, with a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour, will completely end the history of the "dead end road" of the Shiyan high-speed railway. The Han Ten High Speed Railway will directly connect to Xi'an, reducing travel time from Wuhan to Xi'an to about 2.5 hours, and from Shiyan to Xi'an to 1 hour. The fast track from Hubei to the northwest has been fully opened.

The Yixing high-speed railway was also put into operation within the year. The 108.48-kilometer route will shake hands between the Shanghai Chongqing Chengdu Yangtze River High speed Railway and the Zhengzhou Chongqing High speed Railway, breaking the isolation of Yichang North Station and greatly enhancing the flexibility of the E-West Road network.

The highly anticipated Hubei section of the Fuhuang high-speed railway is scheduled to start construction in 2026. The route starts from Fuyang, Anhui in the north, enters Hubei through Xinyang, Henan, passes through Hong'an, Macheng and other places, with a total length of about 131 kilometers in Hubei. After completion, it will open up the "bottleneck" of the Beijing Hong Kong (Taiwan) high-speed railway channel from Fuyang to the south and west, and build a new channel for Wuhan to travel north to Beijing Tianjin Hebei and the Shandong Peninsula, which is of great significance for promoting the revitalization of the revolutionary old areas in the Dabie Mountains.

Multi point flowering and comprehensive attack, upgrading the hub position again

The ongoing projects are also progressing rapidly: the Yichang Changde high-speed railway has started construction, which will connect the Hubei section of the Hunan South Passage; The Wuhan Hub Direct Line is being implemented intensively, with the construction of a new Hanyang Station and Baishazhou River crossing channel to relieve the pressure on the hub; The high-speed railway from Hefei to Wuhan will be fully accelerated and is expected to be completed by 2028, strengthening the eastward connection of the Yangtze River channel; The Yichang Fuling high-speed railway has entered a critical stage, and as the most complex "puzzle" of the high-speed railway along the Yangtze River, it is planned to be completed within 6 years.
