The Aisha wind power project in Ethiopia, constructed by a Chinese company, held its commissioning ceremony on January 31st in the eastern Somali region of the country. Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy, Djibouti President Guelleh, Somali President Mahmoud, and others attended the ceremony.
Abi stated at the event that clean energy is crucial for Ethiopia's long-term economic development, and the Asisa wind power project reflects Ethiopia's pursuit of self-reliance through the utilization of local resources. Thank you to Ethiopian Electric Power Company, China Eastern Electric Group, which undertook the project, and the people of the region for your contributions to the completion of the first phase of the project.
”It is reported that the construction of the Ayisa wind power project began in 2017, and Dongfang Electric signed a general contracting contract with the owner, Ethiopian Electric Power Company. The total installed capacity of the project design is 120 MW, and 48 single unit 2.5 MW wind turbines will be installed. At present, the first phase of 32 wind turbines have been installed and are now connected to the grid for power generation.
Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation CEO Asher Barcha said that the Somali region of Ethiopia has abundant wind, solar, and natural gas resources. As an important green energy infrastructure in Ethiopia, the Aisha wind power project will provide reliable power guarantee for the construction of the Addis Ababa Djibouti Railway Economic Corridor and enhance Ethiopia's power export capacity to Djibouti after it is put into operation.Editor/Bian Wenjun
