The first batch of multiple units for the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project in Malaysia, undertaken by China Communications Construction Group Co., Ltd., was officially unveiled at the Sultan Ahmad Shah Station in Pahang, the state capital of Pahang, on February 11.

On that day, guests attending the launch ceremony of the project's multiple unit (MU) trains and electric locomotives, as well as the handover ceremony of the appointment letter for mobile network infrastructure service providers, took a test ride on the MU trains and visited various modern facilities on board.
Malaysian Transport Minister Lee Hooi Sang delivered a speech at the ceremony, saying that he expected the new trains to bring a smooth, comfortable, and convenient riding experience to local residents, making the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) an important engine driving economic development in the regions along its route. Malaysian Communications Minister Fahmi Fauzi stated that as the ECRL project progresses, digitalization represented by communication facilities is also advancing simultaneously, jointly building an inclusive and sustainable digital ecosystem.

Ouyang Yujing, the Chinese ambassador to Malaysia, delivered a speech, stating that the overall progress of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project in Malaysia has reached 91.7%. The commissioning of the multiple unit trains and electric locomotives marks an important step in the project's transition from high-quality construction to high-level operation. China is willing to work with Malaysia to build the ECRL into a demonstration project that continues the traditional friendship between China and Malaysia and shares the fruits of development.

The East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project, spanning 665 kilometers, is a flagship initiative of the Belt and Road cooperation between China and Malaysia. Upon completion, it will significantly enhance connectivity along the route and drive economic development in the East Coast region of Malaysia.
