On March 31, 2026, the Waigaoqiao 2200 ton gantry crane project, constructed by Zhenhua Heavy Industries, officially began construction. Officials from Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, Shanghai Special Inspection Institute, and Zhenhua Heavy Industries jointly attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

The Waigaoqiao 2200 ton gantry crane project is a single main beam gantry crane specially built by Zhenhua Heavy Industries for Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.'s No. 2 dock, with core technical indicators at the forefront of the industry. The track span of this equipment is 155 meters, with a total travel length of about 780 meters. The rated lifting weight of a single hook can reach 2200 tons, and the lifting hook can flip over to support up to 1100 tons. It can efficiently solve the problem of segmented construction of large ships and significantly improve on-site operation efficiency and safety guarantee capabilities. This project is not only the largest gantry crane project in terms of lifting capacity undertaken by Zhenhua Heavy Industries, but also the strongest gantry crane project in terms of lifting capacity by CSSC to date.
