On the expansion site of Changsha ultra-high voltage substation, the huge transformer body stands quietly, and workers are conducting their final inspection. This is not the first time that Hengbian Company has "held hands" with Changsha Station - as early as 2021, they tailored 7 main transformers of the same model for Changsha Station, which are still operating safely and stably, demonstrating the craftsmanship of "Hengbian Manufacturing" with a zero fault record. Now, the addition of three new "comrades in arms" will enable this hub connecting China's energy arteries to more confidently cope with future power load challenges.

The Changsha 1000 kV substation is not only a key hub of the national energy strategy layout, but also an important node of the "Japanese" shaped ultra-high voltage AC ring network in central China. With the completion of the final assembly of three ODFPS-1000000/1000 main transformers, the substation capacity will significantly increase, enabling more efficient reception and distribution of power from ultra-high voltage direct current lines such as Jiuquan Hunan and Ningxia Hunan. This not only optimizes the grid structure of Hunan power grid, but also enhances the "resilience" of the power grid in dealing with large loads and complex operating modes, providing a solid guarantee for regional power development needs.

As a leading enterprise in power transmission and transformation equipment rooted in Hunan, Hengbian Company once again shoulders the responsibility of serving Hunan's "number one project" and "life engineering". In 2025, Hengbian Company undertook the research and development task of the Changsha Station expansion project, ensuring the high reliability of the equipment with its profound technical accumulation in the field of ultra-high voltage. After the project is put into operation, it will further lay the foundation for the decoupling of the inter provincial 500 kV power grid, reduce the level of short-circuit current, and open up a key channel for flexible power mutual assistance between Hunan and surrounding provinces such as Guizhou and Guangdong.

From Changsha Station to major national key projects, Hengbian Company's ultra-high voltage equipment has a footprint throughout China. As of now, the company has achieved the qualification of 84 ultra-high voltage equipment in a single test, and its participation in projects such as the Datong Tianjin South 1000 kV AC project and the first full capacity ultra-high voltage flexible DC project in China, the Gansu Zhejiang flexible DC project, are also being promoted in an orderly manner.
