On April 14, 2026, the Laos Railway Journey in the three documentaries will be premiered simultaneously at China Central Radio and Television Station and Laos National Television Station, and iQiyi, Youku, Tencent, Bilibili and several provincial satellite TV stations will be launched successively.
The film is starred by British photographer Thomas Heaton, recording his cross-border experience of arriving in Vientiane from Kunming by the China Laos Railway International Passenger Train. The camera delves into the front line of railway construction and daily operation and maintenance sites, connecting the natural landscapes and cultural styles of seven towns along the way.

Previously, the film had landed on the South Asia channel of National Geographic in December 2025, reaching 12.861 million viewers in real-time and winning the title of ratings for all age groups at the same time. Starting from March 2026, it will be broadcasted successively in Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa, with a reach of over 20 million people in the European region. This documentary is jointly produced by People's Railway Press Co., Ltd., Wuzhou Communication Center, National Geographic, and Yunnan Radio and Television Station, and produced by Singapore Lengju Film and Television Media Co., Ltd. Three cross-border filming sessions were conducted by Chinese and foreign teams, which took six months to complete the entire production line.
