As night falls, the construction site of the Ruvas project in the United Arab Emirates is brightly lit and bustling. Four 42 meter long pump trucks swing like steel giants, continuously injecting concrete into the designated area. This is the site of Section 2 of the Ruvas Sulfur Granulation Plant Project in the United Arab Emirates, constructed by China Civil Engineering Group Middle East Company on March 1, 2026. After nearly 11 hours of continuous effort, the pouring of large volume concrete for the 4-8 axis raft foundation of the granulator was successfully completed, with a total of 1612 cubic meters of concrete poured and formed in one go. With the pouring of the last truck of concrete, enthusiastic applause rang out on site - the first key control node since the start of the project was announced to be completed, and the on-site structural construction was fully launched.

System benchmarking wins trust

The Luvas sulfur granulation plant project is the first project for Chinese civil engineering to enter the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) system. Owners adhere to the industry's top rigorous standards in technical specifications, document approval, material control, quality traceability, safety management, and other aspects. For the project team, this is a 'system integration battle' starting from scratch.

Standards are language, compliance is the passport. "The project team is well aware that in order to establish a foothold in ADNOC, it is necessary to thoroughly understand and adapt to its game rules. They adhere to the principle of "standards first, system benchmarking, and one-time excellence", and have carefully sorted out and overcome every key link from design interfaces and technical document approval, to construction plan optimization, material sampling and testing, to subcontractor qualification review, personnel entry certification, and work permits. It is precisely this proactive benchmarking, rigorous and pragmatic attitude that ensures compliance with various procedures and efficient interface connection, clearing the early obstacles for the smooth progress of physical engineering, and gradually establishing trust in communication with the owner and general contractor.

Continuous pouring once to achieve excellence

The raft foundation of the sulfur granulator poured this time belongs to a typical large volume concrete project, with a total pouring volume of 1612 cubic meters. The pouring of large volume concrete is known as the "tough battle" in concrete engineering, and its hydration heat control, interlayer connection, cold joint prevention, and millimeter level precision control of anchor bolts are all challenges that cannot be missed.

To ensure that everything goes smoothly, the project team has prepared a detailed specialized construction plan in advance. They scientifically coordinated resources, mobilized four 42 meter pump trucks for synchronous operation, optimized the pace of concrete supply, and achieved a continuous and stable pouring process of nearly 11 hours. During the pouring process, technicians monitor the status of the concrete throughout the entire process, strengthen quality monitoring and independent third-party testing, strictly prevent the occurrence of cold joints, and accurately control the position of anchor bolts. In the end, the entire pouring process was organized in an orderly and efficient manner, with stable concrete supply. All test results met strict specifications and owner requirements, achieving comprehensive control of safety, quality, and progress, and receiving high praise from on-site owner and general contractor representatives.

Polish the Chinese construction brand

The successful completion of the first critical node has significance far beyond the solidification of 1612 cubic meters of concrete. It marks a milestone victory in the difficult system integration and standard adaptation in the early stage of the project, and is a valuable achievement obtained by the team through refined management, professional organization, and efficient communication and docking.

The successful realization of this milestone not only laid the most solid physical foundation for the rapid progress of all subsequent projects, but more importantly, accumulated extremely valuable practical experience for China Civil Engineering in ADNOC and even the entire high-end industrial construction field in the Middle East, and established a good performance image. Next, the project team will continue to strengthen the dual control of safety and quality, and make every effort to promote high-quality and efficient construction of the project. China Civil Engineering Middle East Company will also take this project as an important opportunity to deeply cultivate the energy infrastructure market in the United Arab Emirates, and continuously polish China's "golden signboard" in the Middle East region with high-quality projects.Editor/Yang Meiling
