Against the backdrop of accelerating the construction of the Trans Caspian International Transport Corridor, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have implemented the Tashkent Multi functional Modern Logistics Center project through intergovernmental cooperation, with Chinese enterprises deeply participating in the general contracting construction. This marks the entry of private logistics infrastructure in Central Asia into the stage of large-scale implementation, and the accelerated formation of the regional transit hub pattern.

EPC contract signing initiates construction

The first phase EPC contract for Tashkent Multi functional Modern Logistics Center was officially signed on March 3, 2026. Silkway CA LLC reached a general contracting agreement with China Railway Engineering Group Central Asia Branch, covering the entire process of design, equipment supply, railway infrastructure, container terminal construction and commissioning.

The project covers an area of 159.4 hectares, with a total period from 2025 to 2030. The first phase investment exceeds 84 million US dollars and is expected to be completed in 2027. The project was jointly launched by the presidents of the two countries in November 2025 and included in the bilateral cooperation roadmap. The construction party promised to promote it in accordance with international standards.

Enhancing Strategic Value of the Trans Caspian Corridor

Central Asia is becoming a key node in Eurasian trade, and the international transportation route across the Caspian Sea serves as an important channel for the southern route of China Europe, effectively diverting traditional maritime transportation from the northern route. Relying on their geographical advantages, Kazakhstan and Ukraine have strengthened their railway intermodal transportation and container transit capabilities, aiming to enhance regional transit potential, reduce the efficiency and cost of China Europe freight transportation, and consolidate Central Asia's position as an east-west trade hub.
