In Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, a meeting on the connectivity between Central Asian grain warehouses and the Sichuan Sichuan region is quietly changing the logistics map of this landlocked country. Talgat Ardebelglenov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kazakhstan State Railway Company, welcomed a guest from afar - Huang Xiang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sichuan Land Sea Cloud Port Development Group Co., Ltd. in China. Both sides sat down, and on the table lay a grand blueprint for the agricultural logistics hub in Kokshetao city. This ambitious plan aims to efficiently deliver high-quality agricultural products produced in the vast northern part of Kazakhstan to the trains leading to western China and even the entire Asia.

Throughput of millions of tons of agricultural products
The logistics hub in this plan is not an ordinary warehouse. According to the plan disclosed by both parties, the project covers an area of up to 40 hectares and is designed to have an annual cargo throughput of over 1 million tons. It is not just a transit station, but also a "super complex" that integrates container operations, railway dedicated lines, and modern warehousing. Its core goal is very clear: to fully activate the potential of Akmola Oblast in northern Kazakhstan as an important agricultural production area, and to enable its grain and material production capacity to enter the international market at the fastest speed and lowest cost.
Deepen cooperation between China and Kazakhstan in the western region
During the meeting, both parties' attention was not limited to a single project. Aldbergnov and Huang Xiang both agree that the Kokshetau project is just a starting point. They delved into how to leverage this as a pivot to promote broader logistics cooperation between Kazakhstan and Sichuan Province and Chengdu City in China. From establishing regional logistics hubs to exploring new export channels, both sides are committed to extending cooperation from "points" to "lines" and building a stable and efficient economic and trade artery between western China and Kazakhstan. Benefiting people's livelihoods and promoting economic and trade exchanges
The implementation of the project will bring tangible changes. During the construction period, it will create over 500 job opportunities for the local area; After completion and operation, it will also provide about 100 stable long-term employment opportunities, directly benefiting local residents. From a more macro perspective, with the connection of this logistics network, Kazakhstan's agricultural products will enter the Chinese market more smoothly, and the economic and trade cooperation between China and Kazakhstan under the framework of the joint construction of the the Belt and Road will also gain more solid logistics support.Editor/Gao Xue
