On March 26th, the 150 major water conservancy projects in China - the Yangtze River Chizhou section river management project - were officially launched, marking the substantive construction stage of building a strong flood control barrier and safeguarding the peace along the Yangtze River in Chizhou City, Anhui Province.

This project is a key project to enhance the overall flood control capacity of Anhui Province and improve the flood control safety system of the Anhui River. The governance scope covers the Chizhou section of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, starting from Niuji County in the east and ending at the mouth of Qingtong River, with a total length of 162 kilometers. It involves Guichi District of Chizhou City, Dongzhi County, and Zongyang County of Tongling City. The project is designed according to the standard for defending against the 1954 flood of the Yangtze River.

The project mainly focuses on the problems of bank slope erosion and frequent bank collapses caused by changes in water and sediment conditions in the current river section, and emphasizes the implementation of bank collapse control. A total of 9 sections of collapsed banks are planned to be treated, with a total length of 19.61 kilometers. The construction includes the construction of 11.51 kilometers of new foot protection, 8.1 kilometers of reinforced foot protection, and 11.26 kilometers of new slope protection.
