Having the natural advantage of pumped storage

Located on the banks of Yijie River in the upper reaches of Lishe River, Yijie Township in Nanhua County has steep mountains and significant river drops, forming a typical "V" - shaped canyon landform. The climate presents a three-dimensional distribution feature of cold mountaintops, warm mountain slopes, and hot valleys. This unique natural geographical condition has made Yijie Township a key area for green energy development in Yunnan Province. Recently, the One Street Pumped Storage Power Station project in Nanhua County has been officially included in the first batch of key investment projects for 2026, and is publicly recruiting partners from the society.

The total investment estimate for this project is 6.86 billion yuan, with a planned construction of a pumped storage power station with an installed capacity of 1.2 million kilowatts. The site is entirely located in Yijie Township, Nanhua County, and has multiple natural construction advantages. In terms of terrain, the area is high in the southeast and low in the northwest, with an altitude difference of 1420.8 meters. The steep mountains and large drop rivers provide excellent terrain for the construction of upper and lower reservoirs; In terms of water resources, the upper reservoir relies on the source of the Yingpan Mountain top gully, and the lower reservoir is adjacent to the Lishe River, with stable and sufficient water supply; At the same time, the project has outstanding location advantages, with a straight-line distance of about 60 kilometers from Chuxiong Prefecture and about 190 kilometers from Kunming. It is conveniently connected to the Yunnan main network and can efficiently serve the core electricity load areas in central Yunnan.

Empowering the Clean Energy System

At present, the development of green energy industry in Nanhua County has begun to take shape. In recent years, the county has signed a total of 78 projects, including 10 projects worth over 100 million yuan. A number of key projects such as shared energy storage, 5GWh lithium-ion battery production lines, and 200MW/400MWh shared energy storage power stations have been put into operation, achieving the goal of attracting and connecting to the grid in the same year. After the completion of the Yijie Pumped Storage Power Station, it will further improve and perfect the integrated clean energy development pattern of "wind, solar, water and storage" in Nanhua.
