Recently, with the construction of the Donghe Extra Large Bridge, Liujiashan Bridge and other locations taking the lead, the construction of the Nanjiang to Santai (Zhongjiang) Expressway with a total investment of 47.04 billion yuan has officially begun.
This highway, with a total length of 270.6 kilometers, is the transportation "super project" with the largest investment scale and longest construction mileage in Sichuan Province this year.
It is like a giant dragon, leaping out of the G85 Yinkun Expressway Nanjiang Hub Interchange, winding through five cities including Bazhong, Guangyuan, Nanchong, Mianyang, and Deyang, connecting eight counties (cities), and finally arriving at the G8516 Bacheng Expressway Zhongjiang Hub Interchange.

Super Engineering
The 270 kilometer long dragon runs through Bashu, with high bridge tunnel ratios and ecological challenges.
The construction scale of Nansan Expressway can be described as grand. The entire project adopts a two-way four lane standard, and 324 bridges will be constructed along the way, including 10 technically complex super large bridges.
There are 32 tunnels, including one long tunnel that tests the engineering limit. There are also 31 interchanges, 6 service areas, 1 parking area, and a total length of 38.34 kilometers of interchange connecting lines along the entire line.
The high bridge tunnel ratio means that the project needs to overcome enormous geographical and geological challenges. More importantly, the route passes through ecologically sensitive areas and imposes extremely strict requirements on environmental protection.
From the beginning of the project design, the core concept was to "gently place the highway in nature", striving to achieve harmonious coexistence between transportation arteries and green mountains and waters under complex construction conditions.

The Golden Channel
Connecting red memories with green mountains and clear waters, the old district welcomes new opportunities for revitalization.
This highway is not only a transportation line, but also a "golden passage" that carries hope and development.
The vast area it passes through is the core area of the revolutionary old areas of Sichuan and Shaanxi, with abundant tourism resources along the way, like a string of polished pearls.
From the picturesque Guangwu Mountain with its unique peaks, to the Cangxi Red Army Crossing with its red history engraved on it, from the ancient city of Langzhong with its rich cultural heritage, to the picturesque Shengzhong Lake, numerous high-quality resources will be efficiently connected by the highway network.
The completion of the Nansan Expressway will completely change the relatively weak transportation infrastructure in revolutionary old areas and press the "fast forward button" for the deep development of mineral and tourism resources along the route.
A composite development artery integrating ecological landscape, historical culture, and red culture is about to take shape.

Strategic artery
Build a hub in Sichuan and support the new pattern of western opening up.
From a broader perspective, the strategic value of the South Third Expressway far exceeds its own. It is a key milestone for Sichuan Province to build a comprehensive transportation hub and expand high-level opening-up to the outside world.
After the completion of the project, it will effectively promote the formation of convenient east-west and northbound transportation routes out of Sichuan, significantly strengthening the rapid connection between Sichuan and neighboring provinces such as Shaanxi and Gansu.
This plays an irreplaceable supporting role in building the regional economic center of the Sichuan Shaanxi Gansu junction and accelerating the coordinated development of inter provincial border areas.
One road, activate a region, connect a pattern. This transportation artery with an investment of 47 billion yuan carries the temperature for improving people's livelihoods, carries the expectation of regional revitalization, and shoulders the mission of promoting higher levels of opening-up in western China.Editor/Yang Meiling
