Recently, nearly a hundred giant wind turbines are about to be erected on the Gobi Desert in Lenghu Town, Mangya City, Qinghai Province. When night falls on the Qinghai Tibet Plateau and photovoltaic panels fall asleep, this wind zone will take over the relay of power supply, lighting up an eternal green light for Haixi Prefecture.

Single unit scale sets a provincial record
The 2 million kilowatt Haixi wind power project of PetroChina Qinghai Oilfield has officially started construction, which is the largest single project of onshore wind power in Qinghai so far. The project is located in a wind energy rich zone with an average altitude of 2750 meters. All units will be directly integrated into the State Grid, using special equipment that is resistant to high cold and sandstorms, and equipped with a full process intelligent control platform.
Nighttime electricity accounts for 70% of the supplementary photovoltaic power supply
It is expected that the annual power generation after production will be about 5.1 billion kilowatt hours, of which nighttime output accounts for 75%. This feature precisely offsets the shortcoming of the local photovoltaic power station's sudden drop in output after nightfall, and will form a rotating pattern of daytime photovoltaic power generation and nighttime wind power supplementation with existing solar arrays, greatly improving the flexibility of regional power grid peak shaving. Annual carbon reduction of over 3 million tons
The project can replace approximately 1.53 million tons of standard coal annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 3.47 million tons. The energy department of Haixi Prefecture stated that it will fully safeguard the construction progress, assist in the clean energy transformation of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, and inject low-carbon energy into creating a green agricultural and livestock product export destination and an international ecological tourism destination.Editor/Gao Xue
