On May 2nd, China's first large-scale "computing-power collaboration" green electricity supply project—the 500,000-kilowatt photovoltaic power station directly supplying green electricity to the Zhongwei Cloud Base data center—officially commenced operation. This marks a crucial step forward in the "East-to-West Computing" project, achieving direct connection from desert wind and solar power to digital computing power.

Located in Zhongwei City, Ningxia, within the nation's first comprehensive new energy demonstration zone, the project boasts abundant solar and wind energy resources. The project comprises a 500,000-kilowatt photovoltaic power station and a 1.5 million-kilowatt wind farm. Through a "direct green electricity supply" model, it provides clean, stable, and low-cost electricity to the computing power park, effectively reducing enterprise operating costs while significantly reducing carbon emissions, achieving a win-win situation for both economic and ecological benefits.

As of the end of April 2026, six of the top ten computing power companies in China have already established themselves in the Zhongwei Cloud Base computing power park. Currently, the park's actual use of green electricity exceeds 90%. The commissioning of this project has not only significantly increased the local green electricity consumption ratio but also promoted the deep integration of green energy and the digital economy, injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of western China. The implementation of the "computing-power collaboration" model means that computing power is no longer synonymous with high carbon emissions. With the continued deepening of the "East Data, West Computing" project, Zhongwei is transforming from an "energy exporter" to a "computing power exporter," providing replicable practical experience for China to achieve its carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals.
