From January to April 2026, the fixed assets investment of China's railways will reach 2008 billion yuan, up 3.2% year on year. During the golden period of spring construction, China Railway Group focused on major national strategies and made good use of the dual support policies, resulting in frequent good news for a number of key projects. As of now, the operating mileage of railways in China has exceeded 162000 kilometers, including over 46000 kilometers of high-speed railways, and the scale of the railway network continues to expand.

Multiple high-speed trains are rushing to open for traffic

In April, the construction of multiple high-speed railways reached a critical milestone. The joint debugging and testing of the Xi'an Shiyan high-speed railway and the Shandong section of the Xiong'an Shangqiu high-speed railway are progressing smoothly, with a maximum test speed of 385 kilometers per hour, just one step away from opening for operation. The Xi'an Ankang high-speed railway and the Hangzhou Shaoxing Taizhou high-speed railway Wenling Yuhuan section have successively started static acceptance, entering the final sprint stage before opening to traffic.

Good news also came from the southwest direction. The Chongqing Wanzhou high-speed railway tunnel has been fully connected, and this high-speed railway with a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour has significantly reduced the travel time between the Chengdu Chongqing region and the northeastern Chongqing area. The main structure of the newly built Chongqing Science City Station on the Chengdu Chongqing High speed Railway has been capped, and the travel time of the Chengdu Chongqing dual core railway will be shortened to less than 1 hour after the project is completed.

China Railway Group fully utilizes new technologies and processes, optimizes construction organization, strengthens safety and quality management, and ensures efficient progress of the project. From January to April, the construction of railways across the country has driven employment for over 800000 people along the line, and stimulated investment in upstream and downstream industries by over 120 billion yuan, with a continuous release of radiation and driving effects.

World class railway network accelerates formation

At present, it is the first year of the implementation of the 15th Five Year Plan, and China Railway Group has clearly stated that it will comprehensively implement the construction tasks of various key railway projects. According to the plan, the national railway fixed assets investment will maintain a high level during the 15th Five Year Plan period. It is estimated that by 2030, the railway operating mileage will reach more than 165000 kilometers, and the high-speed railway will cover more than 90% of cities with a population of 500000.
