On May 11, 2026, during President Rahmon's state visit to China, China and Tajikistan signed multiple cooperation agreements, with a focus on renewable energy and expanding investment cooperation in multiple industries. More than 700 Chinese funded enterprises have invested in Tajikistan, and the bilateral trade volume reached 790 million US dollars in the first quarter, a year-on-year increase of over 50%. China Tajikistan cooperation is deepening from energy to multiple fields.

Implementation of renewable energy agreements

During the visit to China, the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan signed two renewable energy cooperation agreements: focusing on the development and investment of renewable energy projects with Guangdong Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd., and exploring the feasibility of wind power plant construction in the Sugode region with Watchman Group PTE Ltd. Tajikistan has abundant resources in hydropower, solar energy, and wind energy, and is implementing the Renewable Energy Plan for 2023-2027. It urgently needs foreign investment and technological support to improve development and utilization rates. This signing is a precise alignment of Zhongta's resource endowment and technological advantages.

Synchronized promotion of energy and chemical projects

During Rahmon's attendance at the high-level business conference between China and Tajikistan, several Chinese companies disclosed their investment plans in Tajikistan. China Power has promoted 18 projects in the country with a total contract value of 580 million US dollars; China Pingmei Shenma plans to invest 300 million US dollars to build a urea production line. These projects not only expand the overseas business territory of Chinese enterprises, but also help Tajikistan introduce advanced technology, attract foreign investment, and create development momentum. At the same time, they promote the export of Chinese photovoltaic, lithium battery and other products, achieving mutual benefit and win-win results in bilateral economic and trade.
