Total Energy and Malaysian developer MK Land have locked in a partnership - in the third quarter of 2027, a 30 MWac solar power plant in Kedah state officially broke ground.
The total investment of the project is 145 million Malaysian Ringgit, with a full lifecycle power generation of approximately 1.5 TWh. It will be delivered to major technology and industrial customers in Malaysia through a 21 year power purchase agreement, with data center operators among them.
This is not an ordinary electricity transaction, but a precise industry positioning.

115 acres, 80000 photovoltaic panels
The power station covers an area of 115 acres and plans to install approximately 80000 photovoltaic modules, as well as build a 132 kV loop in and loop out substation. The latter will directly enhance the interconnection capability of Malaysia's power grid - which is precisely the scarcest infrastructure for a country with intensive expansion of data centers.
The equity structure of the project is clear: Total Energy holds 49% of the shares, while Solar Citra, a subsidiary of MK Land, holds 51%. In August 2023, the Malaysian Energy Commission officially granted the project development rights through the Enterprise Green Power Plan. In terms of financing, BNP Paribas Malaysia serves as the sole authorized lender.
More than just one power station
Gregory Thomassin, Head of Renewable Energy Business Development at Total Energy Asia Pacific, revealed a bigger game: "We are pleased to reach this new milestone in Malaysia. With our extensive upstream business presence in the country and the upcoming 50/50 joint venture with Masdar in Asia, we aim to contribute to the development of renewable energy and support the country's decarbonization goals. "

He also emphasized that the project embodies Total Energy's core strategy of providing customized renewable energy solutions for technology and industrial customers.
At present, Total Energy is building a clean power portfolio that covers solar energy, onshore wind energy, offshore wind energy, and is equipped with flexible assets such as gas turbine combined cycle and energy storage. As of early 2026, its total installed capacity of renewable energy has exceeded 34 GW, with the goal of generating over 100 TWh of net electricity by 2030.
