On the morning of May 14, 2026, after 14 hours of continuous operation, the giant steel roof of the main station building at the Shanghai East Station of the Oriental Hub was accurately raised to the predetermined height of 13.5 meters. This time, the lifting area is equivalent to 10 standard football fields, breaking the record for the scale of single lifting of railway stations in China, and the outline of the Pudong super hub is beginning to emerge.

78 diamond shaped grids launched simultaneously

The top of the station building adopts a diamond grid truss structure, with an east-west span of 390 meters and a north-south width of 335 meters. The 78 diamond shaped unit grids upgraded this time cover a total area of 74000 square meters, accounting for about two-thirds of the entire roof area. The remaining part will be lifted in batches later. 62 steel reinforced concrete columns will support this giant roof.

250 meter direct airport check-in

Shanghai East Railway Station subverts the traditional station building model and embeds air rail intermodal modules for the first time in China. Passengers walk only 250 meters from the railway exit to the air check-in area.
