In May 2026, China and Kyrgyzstan held a time capsule placement ceremony in Nula Village, Alai District, Osh Region, officially launching the Elkshtam coal logistics project. The total investment of this project is 430 million US dollars, jointly implemented by Kyrgyzstan Kumur Co., Ltd. and China Xinjiang Dacheng Yuanlong Technology Co., Ltd., aiming to upgrade the coal logistics system and enhance Kyrgyzstan's export potential.

Phase 1 investment of 50 million US dollars

The project covers an area of 10 hectares and includes a logistics center, two coal processing plants, and a cross-border transportation system. The first phase of investment is 50 million US dollars, with an annual coal transportation capacity of 10 million tons. The initial length of the conveyor is 7.7 kilometers, and it will be extended to 157 kilometers in the future, expected to create more than 100 permanent jobs. Saravat Sadilakunov, Deputy Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, attended the launch ceremony.

Green Corridor Policy Support

Kyrgyzstan is committed to enhancing its coal export competitiveness and urgently needs modern logistics infrastructure to support industrial development. China has advantages in logistics construction and technology, and the cooperation between the two sides is in line with Kyrgyzstan's export upgrading needs. The Kyrgyz government has implemented a green corridor policy to provide support for cross-border transportation of project machinery and equipment, helping to promote the efficient progress of the project. Resource capital technology complementarity and win-win situation

Kyrgyzstan relies on its coal resource advantages and leverages Chinese capital and technology to upgrade its logistics system and enhance its export potential. Chinese companies are expanding the energy logistics market in Central Asia and deepening bilateral cooperation by participating in projects. The project not only promotes the modernization of Kyrgyzstan's coal industry, but also strengthens the economic and trade connection between China and Kyrgyzstan, achieving complementary and win-win results in resources, capital, and technology.Editor/Gao Xue
