On May 21, 2026, the Hebei Provincial Government Information Office held a series of themed press conferences on the coordinated development of Beijing Tianjin Hebei, with a special session by the Provincial Department of Transport. In 2026, the focus will be on accelerating the renovation and expansion of the Langzhuo Expressway and the construction of the G228 Cangzhou section of the national highway. Projects such as the second phase of the Tanglang Expressway and the renovation and expansion of the Tangjin Expressway will commence, while simultaneously advancing the preliminary work for the renovation and expansion of the G108 new line expressway and the Beijing Shanghai Jingtai Expressway. Ten projects cover key nodes of inter provincial connectivity, and once completed, will further open up dead end roads and tighten the transportation links between the three regions.
6.7 billion yuan to open up a new channel between Hebei and Tianjin
The renovation and expansion of Tangjin Expressway is a landmark project that will commence in 2026. The project is located in Tangshan City, starting from the Tangshan North Hub Interchange of the Beijing Harbin Expressway and ending at the Jijin Guanyang boundary of the Changshen Expressway, connecting smoothly with the Tianjin section. It has a total length of 58.8 kilometers and a total investment of 6.738 billion yuan. It adopts the method of widening on both sides and in-situ expansion, with a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour.

At present, the preliminary design and initial land use have been approved, and it is planned to start construction within the year and be completed and opened to traffic in 2029. After the completion of the project, it will significantly improve the traffic efficiency of the road section and strengthen the direct connection between Tangshan and Tianjin Binhai New Area.
