Since 2026, China's major oil and gas infrastructure has continued to improve, and the "national network" has been continuously woven and strengthened, steadily enhancing China's ability to ensure oil and gas supply.
In recent days, in Chongqing, Hubei, Zhejiang and other places, the key energy project of the "15th Five Year Plan" - the second line of the Sichuan East Gas Pipeline - is accelerating its construction.
Not only is it a major channel connecting the east and west, but also running through the north and south. Since 2026, the connection lines between regions have been accelerating, with nearly 40 pipeline projects distributed in Northeast China, Yangtze River Delta and other areas, with a total construction distance of over 9000 kilometers.
The continuously improving energy network is driving the continuous improvement of oil and gas resource allocation efficiency. In the past five years, the price of natural gas transmission across provinces in China has decreased by 5%, saving about 14.9 billion yuan in social energy costs annually.
In 2026, this network is still upgrading towards diversification. The "highway network" originally dedicated to oil and gas can now transport various new media such as hydrogen, ammonia, and alcohol.
Data shows that from January to April 2026, China's main natural gas pipeline network transported over 80 billion cubic meters of natural gas. At present, China has built and put into operation over 110000 kilometers of main oil and gas pipelines, providing strong foundation support for energy transformation.Editor/Yang Meiling
