By 2025, the global installed capacity of energy storage is expected to exceed 200GWh, with the growth rate in the Central Asian market leading emerging economies. Recently, China Energy Engineering Corporation's two major overseas energy storage projects have made synchronized progress: all four power stations in Uzbekistan's Phase III 400MW/800MWh energy storage project group have completed reverse power transmission, and the Karaganda 500MW wind storage project in Kazakhstan has officially started construction, with a total investment of about 6.07 billion yuan, marking the accelerated landing of Chinese energy storage enterprises in Central Asia and the Caspian Sea region.

400MW energy storage group sprints towards full capacity grid connection

The Uzbekistan Phase III energy storage project group invested and constructed by China Energy Construction includes four power stations in Akhen, Namangan Oblast; Obi, Namangan Oblast; Chiz, Namangan Oblast; and Gatan, Andijan Oblast. Each station is equipped with a 100MW/200MWh lithium iron phosphate electrochemical energy storage system, and a 220 kV booster station is built simultaneously, which is connected to the power grid through a single 220 kV line. The total investment of the project group is 320 million US dollars, and it is a key project of Uzbekistan's 2030 strategy. Currently, it has fully entered the stage of full capacity grid connection sprint. After being put into operation, it can provide 580 million kilowatt hours of electricity regulation capacity for the country's power grid every year, effectively supporting the peak valley balance of the Central Asian power grid.

The 500MW wind storage project has officially started construction

The Karaganda 500MW wind storage project, jointly developed by China Energy Engineering Corporation and Samruk Energy Company, has recently started construction, covering an area of about 8000 hectares with a total investment of 573 million US dollars. The designed wind power installed capacity is 500MW, with supporting 150MW/300MWh energy storage systems. After the completion of the project, the annual power generation will exceed 1.7 billion kWh, which is another major new energy project implemented by China Energy Construction under the framework of China Kazakhstan cooperation, following the Sawulan solar energy storage project.
