In June 2026, China Africa infrastructure cooperation continued to deepen and solidify, with multiple key projects in transportation, energy, and people's livelihoods seizing the construction window period and steadily and orderly advancing. Major domestic engineering companies continue to deeply cultivate the African infrastructure market, with efficient construction of various engineering projects and frequent milestone achievements. They continuously improve the local infrastructure system in Africa and improve the living conditions of the people, fully demonstrating the fruitful results and profound friendship of China Africa pragmatic cooperation.
Steady progress in transportation construction
The new airport highway in Windhoek, Namibia, jointly constructed by China Railway Seventh Group, AVIC International and middling coal in Jiangxi Province, continues to optimize and improve supporting facilities after opening to traffic, effectively improving the capital's commuting efficiency and air intermodal transport level; The Malawi M1 highway upgrade and renovation project undertaken by Shandong Road and Bridge has been successfully handed over, and we will continue to follow up on technical assistance work to help the local operation and maintenance team master professional skills in road maintenance and operation management.

The Zambia Sakania Port and Highway Upgrade PPP Project, invested and built by Jiayou International, will fully carry out roadbed construction and port supporting facility construction in June 2026, making every effort to connect the cross-border logistics transportation channel between Zambia and Congo. At the same time, the second phase of the Kenya Neyma Railway, constructed by China Communications Construction Corporation (CCCC), and the mining line of the Algeria West Railway, constructed with the participation of China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC), continue to promote operational optimization and supporting engineering construction, continuously releasing the radiation and driving effect of regional transportation hubs. The Oporoma Bridge in Nigeria, constructed by China Civil Engineering Group, will continue to improve the road network along the route after its opening, fully facilitating transportation along the Niger River.
Accelerate green energy water conservancy projects
The photovoltaic project of the Baricho Water Plant in Kenya, implemented by the Hydroelectric External Company, completed its later operation and commissioning work in June 2026, which can stably deliver clean electricity to the water plant and significantly reduce project operating costs. The drainage and road engineering project in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, undertaken by China Electric Power Construction Corporation, has entered a critical stage of tackling difficulties. The laying of a 7.7-kilometer drainage pipeline network and the hardening of roads have been accelerated. After the project is completed, it will completely solve the problem of urban waterlogging during the rainy season and benefit 250000 people in the surrounding area. Keywords: China Africa cooperation, interconnectivity

All ongoing cooperation projects in this round adhere to the concept of localized development, with each contracting enterprise absorbing local labor on a large scale, conducting regular professional skills training, and cultivating a large number of infrastructure professionals for Africa while promoting high-quality engineering construction. From the transportation arteries that connect the regional network, to the basic projects that ensure people's livelihood and well-being, from the upgrading of traditional infrastructure to the landing of green energy projects, Chinese enterprises, with their hardcore construction strength and responsibility, vividly practice the cooperative concept of consultation, co construction and sharing. In the future, China Africa infrastructure cooperation will continue to deepen and work together to create a new situation of mutual benefit and common development.Editor/Gong Ziwei
