The Xinyu Substation was put into operation on May 17, 2026, and is the first 500 kV substation to be put into operation during the 15th Five Year Plan period in Chongqing.

The station has built 2 new main transformers with a total capacity of 2 million kVA, and has also built 53 kilometers of 500 kV transmission lines, further optimizing the main grid structure of Chongqing's power grid and enhancing the power supply capacity and reliability of the southern area of Chongqing. The transmission capacity of the Chongqing power grid's external electricity to Chongqing channel has reached 18.2 million kilowatts, which can meet half of the city's electricity demand during peak periods.
