On the morning of June 16, 2026, the Chinese President held talks with Myanmar President Myint Aung Hlaing, who was on a state visit to China, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

China adheres to the concept of friendship, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness, and places the development of relations with Myanmar in an important position in its neighboring diplomacy. China adheres to the principle of non-interference in its internal affairs, and its friendly policy towards Myanmar is aimed at all the people of Myanmar. China firmly supports Myanmar in safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and supports the new Myanmar government in coordinating development and security, finding the correct development path that is in line with the national conditions and supported by the people. This year marks the beginning of China's 15th Five Year Plan. China is willing to share its development experience with Myanmar and work together to build a China Myanmar community of shared future that is politically friendly, mutually trusting, mutually beneficial in development, coordinated and mutually reinforcing in security, and culturally integrated and mutually beneficial. This will bring more benefits to the people of both countries and make more contributions to regional peace and development.

The Chinese President emphasized that China is Myanmar's longest shared border neighbor and a trustworthy friend and partner. In the face of the turbulent and intertwined international situation, both sides must maintain strategic clarity and determination, and strengthen unity and cooperation. The China Myanmar Economic Corridor is the flagship project for the two countries to jointly build the "the Belt and Road". Under the premise of ensuring security, both sides should steadily promote the construction of key projects to help Myanmar develop its economy and improve its people's livelihood. China is willing to increase its support for Myanmar's post earthquake reconstruction, implement more "small but beautiful" aid, and jointly tell the story of mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Myanmar. Both sides should continue to crack down on criminal activities such as online gambling and drug smuggling, and effectively safeguard the interests and safety of the two peoples. China supports all parties in Myanmar to promote peace and reconciliation through peace talks, and achieve long-term stability in northern Myanmar, which is in line with the fundamental and long-term interests of the Myanmar country and people.

Min Aung Hlaing stated that the friendship between Myanmar and China has a long history, always helping and supporting each other, adhering to the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, establishing a solid neighborly and friendly partnership, and moving towards a new stage of building a community with a shared future. Myanmar appreciates China's selfless support for Myanmar's long-term development, stability, peace and reconciliation, and will firmly abide by the One China principle. The new government of Myanmar is making every effort to promote domestic peace and development, actively exploring political systems and development paths that are suitable for its own national conditions. China's promotion of the implementation of the 15th Five Year Plan has provided important opportunities for neighboring Asian countries, including Myanmar. Myanmar looks forward to strengthening all-round cooperation with China, jointly building the Myanmar China Economic Corridor, and enhancing trade and investment levels. Myanmar attaches great importance to and will make every effort to ensure the safety of Chinese funded enterprises and personnel in Myanmar. Myanmar is willing to closely cooperate with China, resolutely crack down on online gambling and fraud, and maintain border security and stability.

After the talks, the two heads of state witnessed the signing of multiple cooperation documents in areas such as transportation and people's livelihood.

Before the talks, the Chinese President held a welcoming ceremony for Min Ang Lai in the North Hall of the Great Hall of the People.

When Min Ang Lai arrived, the ceremonial soldiers lined up to pay their respects. The two heads of state stepped onto the reviewing stand, the military band played the national anthems of China and Myanmar, and 21 salutes were fired at Tiananmen Square.

At noon that day, the Chinese President held a welcome banquet for Min Ang Lai in the Golden Hall of the Great Hall of the People.
