On June 10, 2026, Uzbekistan and China completed a special cooperation agreement in the customs sector, finalizing several practical cooperation measures. The two countries will establish a direct connection channel for customs brokerage networks, simplify customs clearance procedures, effectively alleviate obstacles to cross-border trade, reduce costs and improve efficiency in bilateral trade, and further strengthen the supporting system for the Uzbekistan-China cross-border corridor trade.

This agreement was held in Beijing by K. Kadyrov, Representative of the Uzbekistan Customs Committee in China, and the management of the China Customs Brokers Association (CCBA). The talks focused on three core areas: optimizing customs clearance procedures, empowering foreign trade operators, and reducing administrative and logistical barriers to international freight. The two sides focused on practical issues such as customs clearance for export and exhibition goods, improving the quality of commercial transport documents, and deepening customs agency cooperation, aiming to mitigate the risks of delays in cross-border trade.
The two sides reached several preliminary consensuses, including establishing a regular working mechanism, exchanging industry information, conducting joint consultations, and establishing a direct connection mechanism between the customs agency associations of the two countries. As bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and China continues to expand, the efficiency and compliance costs of cross-border logistics and customs clearance have become key factors restricting trade development. Current issues such as cumbersome customs procedures, poor document coordination, and loose agency cooperation have long increased the operating costs of foreign trade enterprises. This deepening of professional cooperation in customs agency services is an important measure to remove bottlenecks in cross-border trade and improve the trade facilitation system, aligning with the core needs of upgrading bilateral trade and economic cooperation. In the future, the two countries will use more efficient and transparent customs cooperation to help Uzbekistan build a regional trade hub and promote the continued smooth flow of the Central Asia-East Asia trade corridor.
