In the upper reaches of the Jinsha River, a super high dam is completing its final sprint. On June 15, 2026, the pouring task of the second phase panel of the CHD Lawa Hydropower Station's ultra-high dam was successfully completed, and the main project officially entered the final stage. This super project hidden in the deep mountains at the border of Sichuan and Tibet is one step closer to full capacity production.
The project enters a sprint
The Lawa Hydropower Station is a key project for the cascade development of the leading reservoir in the upper reaches of the Jinsha River. The dam adopts a face slab rockfill dam structure, and the completion of the second phase of face slab pouring means that the anti-seepage system of the dam body is basically formed. At present, the rest of the civil engineering projects are accelerating, and the installation of mechanical and electrical equipment and metal structures is being carried out simultaneously, steadily moving towards the goal of full capacity production.

Annual power generation of 9 billion kilowatt hours
After the full capacity of the power station is put into operation, the average annual power generation is about 9 billion kilowatt hours, which can meet the annual electricity demand of more than 4.7 million households. As an important power source for the West East power transmission, the Lawa Hydropower Station is of great significance in optimizing the energy structure of Southwest China and ensuring clean power supply.
