On June 24, 2026, the northern Serbian city of Alibunar welcomed a special sowing. In the gentle breeze by the Danube River, 40 huge wind turbine foundations broke ground, marking the official start of the construction of the Alibnar 168 MW wind power project undertaken by Sany Heavy Energy. Local Mayor Zorana Bratic couldn't hide her joy at the groundbreaking ceremony, stating that this is not only an energy project, but also a milestone in urban development. As Chinese wind turbines are about to stand tall on the Balkan Plain, China's new energy technology and equipment are accelerating their integration into Serbia's green transformation process.

Forty wind turbines advance into northern China

As the project contractor, Sany Heavy Energy has demonstrated its strong capabilities in independent research and manufacturing. The 40 wind turbines planned for the project all adopt Chinese technical standards and core equipment, with a total installed capacity of 168 megawatts. In response to the local climate environment and power grid characteristics in Serbia, the engineering team optimized the wind turbine control strategy and tower design to ensure stable output under complex wind conditions. This is not only an export of equipment, but also another successful landing of China's wind power overall solution in the high-end European market, demonstrating the global competitiveness of China's intelligent manufacturing in the field of new energy.

100000 households have access to green electricity

After the project is completed and put into operation, it is expected to generate an average annual power of about 430 million kilowatt hours and will be directly connected to the Serbian national power grid. This number means that it can meet the annual electricity demand of over 100000 local urban households, which is equivalent to adding a medium-sized green power station to Serbia's national power map. In the current era of frequent fluctuations in energy prices, this stable supply of clean electricity will effectively stabilize electricity prices, enhance the resilience of the power grid, and enable the Serbian people to truly enjoy the benefits and peace brought by green energy. Green transformation injects momentum

The construction of the Alibunar wind farm is a crucial step for Serbia to break free from traditional energy dependence and accelerate the optimization of its energy structure. Sany Heavy Energy stated that it will take this project as an opportunity to continue to deepen its presence in the Serbian market, extending from single project construction to long-term operation and maintenance services. This will not only drive local employment and the development of related industrial chains, but also provide solid support for Serbia to achieve its carbon neutrality goals. As Chinese new energy companies continue to take root in the heartland of Europe, a green cooperation bond connecting China and Europe is becoming increasingly resilient.Editor/Gao Xue
