On June 30, 2026NIAN, the first ultra-high voltage direct current transmission project to be put into operation during China's 15th Five Year Plan period, the ± 800 kV high-voltage direct current project from Shaanxi to Anhui, was fully completed and put into operation. Yan'an, this revolutionary holy land, officially entered the era of ultra-high voltage.
At midnight on the same day, the project successfully completed the 168 hour full load trial operation process, and all equipment operation status met the standards, officially entering the commercial power transmission stage.

Cross the thousand mile channel to open up the green power transmission path
The photovoltaic and wind power resources from Yan'an, combined with efficient and energy-saving thermal power, are first collected through the 750 kV AC power grid already built in northern Shaanxi to the Baota Mountain converter station in Yan'an. Then, they cross the provincial border through a 1055 km DC line and finally arrive at the Hezhou converter station in Hefei. After being stepped down to 500 kV AC, they are directly connected to the core power load center in Anhui.
East China Power Supply Guarantee adds stable support
The operation of this channel directly connects the abundant new energy resources in northern Shaanxi with the electricity demand in eastern China. Previously, some wind and photovoltaic projects in northern Shaanxi were limited by local consumption space, resulting in a small amount of power abandonment. Now, they can be directly delivered to the load end in eastern China through ultra-high voltage channels.
After the project is put into operation, it can effectively fill the medium and long-term power supply gap in Anhui and the surrounding East China region, and also promote the synchronous optimization of the energy structure in the two places, building a stable backbone channel for cross regional green power resource allocation.Editor/Cheng Liting
