Under the waves of the Gulf of Guinea in West Africa, a deep-sea competition concerning the country's energy future is accelerating. With the final investment decision settled, Italian oil and gas giant Eni has reached a critical turning point in the development of the Baleine oil field near Ivory Coast. This is not only the Hope Project of Cote d'Ivoire, but also a new benchmark for deepwater development in West Africa.

Leapfrog growth in production capacity

According to the latest agreement, OneSubsea, a joint venture formed by SLB, Aker Solutions, and SubseA7, will provide a complete subsea production system covering 13 wells for Phase III of the Baleine project. This measure will completely unleash the potential of the oil field: the daily crude oil production will jump from the current 60000 barrels to 150000 barrels, and the daily natural gas processing capacity will also increase from 80 million cubic feet to 200 million cubic feet. At that time, Baleine will become one of the largest offshore energy development projects in West Africa, injecting strong momentum into regional energy supply.

Division of labor and collaboration among giants

In this vast deep-water puzzle, various engineering giants perform their respective duties. In addition to the core subsea production system managed by OneSubsea, TechnipFMC has already secured orders for flexible oil pipelines and risers. At the same time, Wison Clean Energy from China and the Altera Infrastructure consortium from the United States have won the EPCIC turnkey contract for the Floating Production Storage and Offloading Unit (FPSO). This giant FPSO operates at a water depth of 1200 meters and has a design lifespan of over 20 years. It can process 90000 barrels of crude oil per day and will become a key hub connecting underwater oil reservoirs with sea surface transportation.keywords:New energy information network

Technology empowers localization

OneSubsea not only brings multiphase flow meters and advanced control systems, but also emphasizes the promotion of integrated delivery based on local existing layout. This mode aims to optimize the execution process and ensure project progress. It is worth mentioning that OneSubsea has been gaining strong momentum in the global market recently. In addition to Cote d'Ivoire, it has also won a rare and huge umbilical cable contract in the Indonesian waters. Through technology transfer and localized support, this underwater engineering giant is attempting to create an efficient and long-lasting energy sample for Eni and Ivory Coast in complex deep-water environments.Editor/Yang Meiling
