The first ray of sunshine in the morning fell on the runway in Bishkek, and the workers had already started their busy day. For this Manas International Airport, which has been in service for over 50 years, this summer is particularly special - it is undergoing a transformative change. On July 14, 2026, the latest announcement from the Ministry of Construction, Architecture, and Housing of Kyrgyzstan showed that 90% of the airport renovation project has been completed, and the new appearance is just around the corner.

This is not just a simple renovation, but also a microcosm of the wave of infrastructure construction in the country in recent years. From a high altitude, profound changes are taking place on this hot land.

The air portal has a new look

As the "air gateway" of the country, the renovation of Manas International Airport has attracted much attention. The project, personally designed by the Ministry of Construction, aims to thoroughly improve the operational efficiency of the airport. At the same time, as an important supporting facility, the new terminal project of "Manas-2" International Airport is also being vigorously promoted. The combined effect of these projects will greatly alleviate the passenger flow pressure at existing airports and provide solid transportation support for various celebration activities in preparation for Kyrgyzstan's Independence Day in 2026.

Livelihood facilities are blooming everywhere

In addition to upgrading the transportation arteries, the blueprint of the Ministry of Construction has already extended to all aspects of people's lives. Currently, over 500 social facilities are being constructed simultaneously nationwide. In the field of sports, a modern sports stadium capable of accommodating 5000 spectators has risen from the ground; In the cultural and tourism sector, new cultural and tourism complexes are gradually taking shape. In addition, the Balastan Children's Entertainment Center in Taras city is also intensifying construction, aiming to provide better quality leisure space for the next generation.

The rise of cultural and tourism landmarks

In the layout of major infrastructure, the thickness of culture and history is equally indispensable. The construction department is making every effort to build the "Alatau Resort" ski complex, aiming to develop it into a winter tourist destination in Central Asia. At the same time, the "Manas Ordo" national complex and the "Chingiz Aitmatov World" historical and cultural complex are also steadily being implemented. These projects are not only the inheritance of national culture, but also a new business card for Kyrgyzstan to showcase its national image to the world.

With these projects being put into operation around Independence Day next year, a more modern and confident Kyrgyzstan will be presented to the world.Editor/Yang Meiling
